Spring Air

Founded in 1926, Spring Air is a classic and traditional bed maker. With 8 US based factories and more worldwide, this large mattress manufacturer creates hybrid and innerspring mattresses available under a few different brands including Chattam & Wells, Four Seasons, and Back Supporter. Spring Air mattresses are available at retail stores nationwide. Still, some customers have brought up issues with firmness and durability.

White Dove

White Dove mattress was one of the original innovative hybrid mattress brands in the US. They still focus on hybrid mattresses, but also have added latex foam mattresses to their lineup as well. Selling their mattresses predominantly in PA, OH, IN, and surrounding states, they have stuck to their roots while creating mattresses that are up to the times. Most customers find White Dove mattresses to be high end and quality made, but some folks had issues with durability.

Based on our aggregated reviews and our scoring method, we recommend White Dove in this match up!

Spring Air's Owner Satisfaction

If you are considering purchasing, keep reading below for information on feel. They, unfortunately, don't get the best reception from customers overall. Some were perfectly satisfied with their mattress, but others had complaints about their comfort.

Spring Air's Supportiveness

A supportive mattress is important to all, but especially important for back and stomach sleepers. Even side sleepers need gentle support to make sure their spines are aligned. For most reviewers, these mattresses provide a good amount of support. However, some have had reported some issues so if you are heavier than most, make sure your choice aligns with your body.

Edge Support
Most folks like the edge support from these mattresses. Some customers weren't entirely satisfied with the edge support.

Spring Air's Durability

In addition to being well supported, having a long lasting mattress is what shoppers are looking for. We all wish our mattress will last a decade or more and still provide us with cozy comfort. Unfortunately, not all sleepers have felt that these mattresses were durable enought for them. If you are considering purchasing as your full time mattress, make sure to review the specs against your body type to make sure it will work for you.

White Dove's Owner Satisfaction

With data from customers, you can more accurately choose the right mattress. That said, it is sometimes difficult to stay focused with all of the reviews from countless brands. These mattresses have both positive and negative feedback from customers. Some sleepers are extremely comfortable, but others aren't as happy.

White Dove's Supportiveness

Most folks describe these mattresses as doing a good job supporthing their bodies, but others didn't always enjoy the feel. For those with wider frames, take a look at some of the reviews before purchasing as you'll want to make sure that your body is aligned as it should.

Edge Support
For those that want a mattress they can sit on with their legs dangling off the sides, these mattresses provide a good amount of support for most sleepers. However, some have reported some issues over the long term so make sure to review before purchasing.

White Dove's Durability

Having a mattress with good durability means saving yourself thousands. Sadly, now more than ever, everything from clothes to mattresses wears out faster. Customers give mixed feedback when it comes to the durability of these mattresses. Each mattress is different in how it affects you individually and may feel comfortable for you for years, but others have reported not being so lucky. Make sure that your mattress choice works well with your body before purchasing.

What a great bed
This bed was delivered by two men from 'manna delivery' services, they did a good job and took away all of the boxing and giant bags. It is a little taller than i thought but its not too tall for my sheets which is good. It feels a lot different than my old memory foam bed and when I called they explained what latex foam was and really opened my eyes. My back pain has gone away and also i sleep better throughout the night. i would buy this bed again

Not a good quality mattress
Tried to like this matress but it's just a poor product. Weak sides making you feel like you're sliding off edge. Hump formed in middle after a few weeks. Valleys on the sides. Almost impossible to rotate due to lack of handles / straps to hold on to. Even tried to flip it over and all the problems come back on both sides.

Like a rug on a cold floor
We like a firm mattress but this is hard and uncomfortable. Harder than the sliding diagram indicates. My husband and I had back, hip and shoulder pain after the first night. Returning it asap.

Disappointed with mattress
After seeing the bed in Costco and feeling how cool the foam was, i was convinced it was a good buy .....but....when foam is covered with fabric, then a protective pad then a sheet the bed was just as hot as my last memory foam bed and after 3 months, it is starting to get indentations in it even though we rotated it several times. I will return it to Costco.

Tried to love it but disappointed after 9 months
Believe the reviews this mattress is firm! We've had it for about 9 months and still can't get comfortable. The sides have depressions while the middle has a hump. We have rotated the bed as instructed but still does not help. My wife and I aren't big people, and we both have back aches from this mattress. We gave it a try, but unfortunately have not had a good nights sleep. We are going to return it and get something softer.

Comfortable
I have purchased 3 spring Air beds in the past, so did not hesitate to order online. Delivery was very efficient and on time even though I live 175 miles from the nearest Costco. This mattress is very comfortable from day one.

Keeps you cool. Had this for 8 months still like
The Latex is great for hot sleepers! This bed does not make me sweat like memory foam or any of pillow tops. I never ever feel hot. It is a firmer plush if that makes sense. It will soften up after about 3-4 weeks. I originally bought the Ultra Firm model but I could not take that slab of concrete and had to return it for this one. It is definitely soft on the sides and firm in the middle. If I were single I'd sleep in the middle to make the bed even. With the firmer middle it is harder to roll over and my wife doesn't try to sneak over to cuddle and steal my heat. I tried 7 other mattress's foam/spring/spring infused latex with foam tops I thought I was going to go crazy, until I found this model. I was desperate for a King size, medium firm, cool bed for $1500ish.

great mattress
great mattress. firm and had good nights sleep from day one. the delivery service was efficient and courteous. they arrived in the time frame that was give and took away all cartons and papers. would recommend this product .

Disappointing quality
The consistency of the foam is uneven, hard in middle too soft on sides. Makes you feel like your tilting towards outer edge when laying on back. Seems also to have broke down to a lumpy feel after six months use. Very difficult to change positions as it leaves you feeling like your trying to roll out of a hole. Made my good back hurt. Can't sleep on this mattress any longer, returning.

great choice
There was an error in shipping by delivering the wrong foundation, so we had to use our old one, which made the mattress seem soft, but still very comfortable. After using the correct foundation there was a distinct improvement in the firmness, this is the best i have slept in along time especially having physical issues.I recommend you use the right foundation. We are very happy with this, also read the rotating instructions.

Soft as a cloud with NO support
Way too soft! You sink right in and it's comfortable at first. But when I wake in the morning I have a terrible lower back ache due to lack of support. I'm a side sleeper and this mattress does not have proper support to keep my spine aligned. This is suppose to be a Latex bed, so I don't know why they add junkie memory foam to the top layer which only makes it hotter and does not breath, completely defeating the advantages of Latex breath-ability and cool sleeping surface.

Firm - Not 'Plush'
When I saw this mattress advertised as plush I figured it would be very soft. That is not the case. This mattress is quite firm. It is probably fine for a back sleeper, but I sleep on my side and it's terrible. After the 3rd night I couldn't take any more and put an old memory foam topper on it. As soon as the replacement mattress arrives this one will be heading back to the warehouse.

Sorry , not happy at all
I was especially interested in getting away from springs and trying the Latex. Unfortuneately, it was a big dissapointment. It seened lifeless, like sleeping on a bag of soft beans. It definitely was not like a cloud. The positive reviews on a similar Spring Aire latex matress are astonishing to me

I love this bed!
I have to say, I was a little hesitant on purchasing this after reading the last review but I must say this was one of the best desicions I have made in a long time. This mattress is sooo cushiony and comfortable. For the first time in a long time, my husband and I have actually been sleeping through the night!

Excellent Bed
We have had this bed for about a month. From the first night, neither my husband or I wake up with sore/stiff backs. We bought our previous bed from Costco and were hesitant thinking we should go to a mattress store. We are so glad we went with this bed. I prefer a softer bed and my husband prefers a firmer bed. While this bed is firmer than I expected, it doesn't effect the sleep we are getting. We also didn't notice a smell. The manufacturer said to let the bed air out but we didn't need to. Hopefully this will continue to be a great bed! We have struggled over the years, trying less expensive options. This is worth every penny.

Good nights, happy days!
We were on the hunt for a good mattress, but did not want memory foam. The options are limited. After doing some research we ordered the Spring Air Firm mattress. It was too hard. I contacted Costco.com they arranged for pickup (free) of the other mattress and provided a refund. We then chose this mattress. It is still firm, but not hard. Its supportive and comfortable. Shipping was included in the price from Costco.com, and we had no issues with setting it up. My husband is also very pleased with it.

Stone
One word: stone. This bed is soooooo hard and not plush at all. I'm a loyal Costco shopper, but this product is a total fail. It will be going back for sure.

Not what you expect
For over 50 years I have slept on Beauty Rest two sided Cal King mattresses. Beauty Rest, like so many other manufacturers, stopped making two sided or flippable mattresses. Spring Air is listed as one of the few still making these mattresses and based on the reviews I decided to order one. The order was for an Extra Firm mattress which was placed in early March, manufactured on March 30th and finally delivered on April 23rd. Looking forward to a great nights sleep we placed a freshly washed cotton mattress cover on the new mattress along with fresh sheets and a blanket. The first thing that we both noticed was that the edge of the bed sagged when sat on and no we are not obesely over weight. I am 230 and my wife is 160 pounds. Our old mattress did not sag like this. The next problem we found that when either of us turned to a different sleeping position the whole mattress seemed to jiggle and disturb the other sleeper. Again our old mattress did not do this. My wife also felt that the tuft cover finish on both sides of the mattress felt lumpy. In the morning we discussed these issues and decided to put the old mattress back on the foundation and order a custom made mattress from a local mattress maker. I will try to sell this mattress and at a great loss. This has been a waste of time and money and was over all a bad experience. Do not buy this mattress until you can actually sit on it and lay down on it. We didn't have that option.

Spring Air
I bought a Spring Air from Sears in 1996 which I am still using without a problem, and it looks brand new underneath the mattress pad. I just think I might get this same brand, if possible, since after this many years I see that it has more than twice outlived the usual lifespan of a mattress.

Comfortable as long as no one is moving.
Feel the movement of others too much. Mattress is comfy.

hip and shoulder pain
advised to get this mattress for side sleepers with hip and shoulder pain. It did not improve my pain as i had hoped. I had to further purchase a mattress topper separately which did help to decrease my discomfort.

***Avoid at all costs!!! Can't last a year before it has 5+ inch divets. Thats on two different mattresses!***
I have had the displeasure of owning two different Spring Air mattresses. The first one was turned into my local furniture store for warranty after only a year and 3 months with 5+ inch divots. I'm not a large person at 6'4" 200lbs. There is no excuse for this poor quality on two separate mattresses. My retail furniture shop stopped carrying them from what I can only assume is liability and the fact they are more hassle than they are worth. So now Spring Air expects me to load up the mattress in a truck and drive 7 hours just so they can repair/replace it. They don't really stand by their warranty.

avoid buying this product
warranty means nothing have a almost 2in.impression and it does not qualify for replacement also do not shop at Metro Matteress they scam you too

WARNING Buy at your own risk
I got one a week ago made by spring air, I slept on it the first night, got so sick in the middle of the night from the fumes. It emits VOC fumes from the foam they make. They wont do anything except offer for me to take it to Springfield Il or place I bought it from and get another one of the chemical hazards. I said I will not and I will check my options, and I am doing just that. I'm trying to be nice but they weren't willing to do anyhting. I had a mess of last week trying to sleep on a couch at 77 years old

White Dove warranty promises
White Dove warranty promises are false. After less than 1-year the bed I purchased from them has sagged so bad I won't sleep on it (the bed has not been moved and I'm not overweight, so no excuses). I emailed them explaining the situation, submitted all the required pictures and documentation with no luck. This has all been while I was pregnant and NEEDED a comfortable bed to sleep in - instead of sleeping on the couch or cheap twin bed in our guest room. I have been strung along for 5 months, waiting for a new bed (now they quit responding to my emails and phone calls), in misery. Don't buy a White Dove, King Koil, or Comfort Solutions mattress (they're owned by the same company and don't stand behind their word).

We bought our first White Dove
We bought our first White Dove queen mattress about 12 to 13 years ago. It was reasonably priced, and the quality and comfort were excellent. I wanted a firm mattress and got one that held up well.

After a few years, we needed to replace a mattress in another bedroom and chose another White Dove. We've had it for 3 or 4 years now and it also has been superb. I have a pretty bad back, but these mattresses really fill the bill for me. They stay supportive and don't seem to degrade as quickly as orhers I've owned in the past.

A few years ago, we bought a third White Dove for a spare bedroom. Again- well made, great quality, and no complaints. Like all the other mattresses, it too came from Wayside Furniture in Akron.

Finally, after some reading on when one should replace a mattress, I learned that after eight years is a good time. Since our original White Dove queen mattress was going on 14 years old, and my back is giving me a bit more trouble as I age, we decided to shop around a bit and get a new one with a bit more firmness.

Not surprisingly, a White Dove was still the best choice, and again we purchased it from Wayside over Memorial Day weekend. For comparison's sake, I looked at Mattress Firm first, and tgeir products/prices didn't even come close to the White Dove models at Wayside. They had a great mattress sale going on, and according to Consumer Reports, Memorial Day weekend is an excellent time to find good prices on mattresses.

For one, I really like that White Dove mattresses are made nearby in Cleveland, Ohio. More than that, every one I've had has been a pleasure to sleep on and has held up beautifully. In fact, when the delivery guys came in to take out my original White Dove and saw it, they asked what was wrong with it. It still looked new to them, despite its 13 years of use!

As long as White Dove still builds their mattresses in the USA, I will never buy anything else.

The absolute best
The absolute best mattress that I've ever slept on!

Superior product
Superior product made by true craftsman! I have an auto immune condition that causes me lots of pain and makes a good nights sleep difficult for me. My parents have bought White Dove mattresses for years, so I decided to go get my own. I bought a Lincoln Highway Plush from the Cambridge Collection. It's amazing. So comfortable! Even for my achy bones :)

Poor customer service
Terrible customer service especially regarding their warranty. In this day of Covid-19 this company will not let you pick product up. Every other business'slet you pick items up from clothing stores to grocery, but not this place! Way to save themselves from honoring a warranty on a defective product!!

6 months and the mattress sank
I bought a new White Dove from a reputable furniture store near Akron, Ohio. I only had it 6 months and it began to sag seriously in the center (almost an inch) where I sleep. I was not overly heavy (145 lbs) when I bought it so weight was not a factor. The furniture store told me White Dove would not do anything about it until it sank 2 inches; by then the warranty was up. It was very frustrating. I tried to support a local company by buying this, but it backfired. I would not buy another White Dove.

Luxurious Mattress, Affordable Price
If you want a mattress that'll last you 10+ years and don't want to spend $5000, look no further than White Dove. You can get a mattress with a 25 year warranty covering impressions of half an inch. Yes, HALF of an inch. This year is their 100th anniversary and they've many reasons for sticking around. My wife has a double hip deformity, back, and nerve problems. After buying a latex mattress, her pain has completely disappeared. Yes, the latex mattresses are their most pricey, but if you want the most comfortable, most supportive mattress in existence, White Dove has you covered.

Nothing different
Ok I am a 400lb guy. Mattresses collapse under me. I had went through a number of mattresses 10yrs ago at great expence and had given up. Memory foam and latex are a cost cutting and marketing gimic for the industry. Body heat after a hr or two and the foam collapses no longer providing any support. But will retrun to full expansion when you get up which allows the manufacturer to avoid most warrenties. After 10 yrs sleeping in a chair in desparation i looked at new mattresses again. Chose the Atlas because the said it was specifically made and tested for big folks like me. I was sceptical because of all the foam but hoped they had done something diff with the springs so they would hold up. Within a few days the bed under my rump and hips not only had the foam collapsing but the springs did also and once again I was left in a deep hole each night with severe back pain. Within two months there is a noticable concave shape to the mattress. I had the rep inspect and with thier string measurment the at rest depression was over a inch. White dove responded saying they did not see anything wrong but will be replacing the mattress. At this point if you are looking for matress for big people, keep looking. Nothing different here. Unless the new matteress is somehow made diff from the first I expect to be posting again in another couple Mo. They need a layer of old style heavy quilted material for the first layer to keep body heat from the foam. Or better yet not use the foam and use older traditional padding exclusively.
