Spring Air Specifics

Spring Air has gained popularity over recent years because it has been made available at many retailers across the nation, with some models also available online. The frustrating part for some customers is that the product lines are named differently across various retailers and do not match their own website at times. This can make comparison shopping more difficult. To help reconcile these issues, we've opted to do enhanced reviews below on the most popular lines. These may be called something slightly different across retailers.

While most customers like their Spring Air mattresses at first, there are some that had issues with durability and initial feel. For those that are looking for long term comfort, consider taking a look at our list of top rated mattresses, and specifically the Dreamcloud mattress that offers a high end pillow top mattress for less.

Quality of MaterialsSpring Air mattresses are priced at the lower-middle end of the retail pricing. There have been some issues with the materials and durability problems reported by some customers. Because of this, for your money, it may be best to choose an alternative.

Mattress Types
Spring Air has a variety of mattress collections that they advertise on their website, but many of these are sold under different names. This can make it hard to comparison shop and understand exactly what you are getting and what the prices should be. We'll go through the most popular mattresses that Spring Air offers.

Spring Air Back SupporterThe Back Supporter collection of mattresses by Spring Air ranges in price from around $600 all the way up to over $3000+ depending on the model. These hybrid mattresses feature either memory foam or memory foam plus latex comfort layers on top of their encased coils that are firmer in the center to support the lumbar area. Available in multiple different profile heights and thicknesses, the Spring Air Back Supporter mattresses range from plush to extra firm in feel. Still, some customers have mentioned issues with the mattress firmness and support. For the materials used, you may be able to find more value elsewhere.

The pros: Mattress collection includes a large selection of mattress thicknesses.

The cons: Better value may be found elsewhere. Some issues with firmness and support.

Final Score: 7.2 / 10

Spring Air Four SeasonsThe Four Seasons mattress collection by Spring Air (not affiliated with the popular luxury hotel chain) are their mid-priced mattresses, ranging from around $800 to over $2400+. Their latest design includes a removable top cover that unzips and flips over to a cooling side to help sleepers stay cool in the summer and warmer in the winter. The Four Seasons mattresses come with pocketed coils and memory foam comfort layers. Some customers had complaints about durability issues after a short period of time with these mattresses as well as issues with firmness.

The pros: Upgraded design features a removable cover.

The cons: Some mentioned issues with longevity and firmness issues.

Final Score: 7.1 / 10

Spring Air BreatheThe Spring Air Breathe mattress was made with virus and bacteria reduction in mind. This hybrid mattress features an antimicrobial cover, layers of foam including an anti-microbial and moisture wicking memory foam, and a layer of individually encased coils. While these hybrid mattresses feature some nice anti-viral protection, considering their higher price, there may be other hybrid mattresses that offer more comfort layers and support.

The pros: Hybrid mattress with Nano-Shield anti virus protection in the cover layer.

The cons: Price is a bit high, especially when compared to other online hybrid mattress options.

Final Score: 7.2 / 10

Spring Air Sleep SenseSleep Sense hybrid mattresses by Spring Air are available at retail stores and range from around $1100 to $2300+. The biggest distinction with these mattresses is a high/low design of the pocket coils and memory foams to provide more pressure relief to areas like your low back. This means that the pocket coils are higher under the head, low back, under the knees, and feet, and the low areas are filled in with memory foam. Although these mattresses have a unique design concept, some customers have mentioned disagreements with firmness.

The pros: Unique design concept with a high/low pocket coil and foam support system.

The cons: Some disagreements about firmness.

Final Score: 7.1 / 10

Hotel & Suites CollectionThe Spring Air Hotel & Suites Collection is a popular option that is found in some online and in-store retailers across the country. These mattresses have a traditional feel and feature latex, memory foam, and pocketed coils. They can be found for mid-range prices of just over $1,000 for a queen. Customers have good things to say about this mattress initially, but there are some that had longevity and sagging issues over a short period of time. Make sure that you get the right firmness option for your body type as it may be difficult to understand upon first look.

The pros: Multiple firmness options and a solid price. Customers generally like initial feel.

The cons: Some longevity problems and firmness problems.

Final Score: 7.2 / 10

Chattam & WellsChattam & Wells is one of Spring Air's most popular brands. After being discontinued for a short while, Spring Air brought back their luxury line of mattresses, which start in price from around $1600 to over $7000+. These mattresses range in height and thickness from a more standard 12'' all the way up to an extraordinary 19'' thick mattress. Chattam & Wells mattresses feature layers of wool, memory foam, latex, a thin layer of nano-coils, and an innerspring layer in hopes of giving sleepers a luxurious yet supportive feel. Still, despite the high price tag, some customers have brought up disagreements about the firmness of their Chattam & Wells Mattress.

The pros: Thoughtfully constructed, luxury mattress line from Spring Air.

The cons: High prices. Some disagreements about firmness.

Final Score: 7.3 / 10

Nature's RestNature's Rest is Spring Air's line of foam and natural latex mattresses. Available in a range of firmness options from Ultra Firm to Super Plush Euro-Top, these mattresses feature a stretch knit cover with added linen, a layer of quilted memory foam, layers of Eco Institut certified natural talalay latex, and a foam base. For those sleepers who love the natural bounce back feel of latex, these mattresses may be worth considering. Still, given the high expense of these mattresses, shoppers may find better deals from other online natural latex mattress brands.

The pros: Nice range of firmness options.

The cons: Prices are high.

Final Score: 7.3 / 10

Unfortunately we have returned it due to both sides sinking Leaving a huge hump in the middle

What a great bed

This bed was delivered by two men from 'manna delivery' services, they did a good job and took away all of the boxing and giant bags. It is a little taller than i thought but its not too tall for my sheets which is good. It feels a lot different than my old memory foam bed and when I called they explained what latex foam was and really opened my eyes. My back pain has gone away and also i sleep better throughout the night. i would buy this bed again

Not a good quality mattress

Tried to like this matress but it's just a poor product. Weak sides making you feel like you're sliding off edge. Hump formed in middle after a few weeks. Valleys on the sides. Almost impossible to rotate due to lack of handles / straps to hold on to. Even tried to flip it over and all the problems come back on both sides.

Like a rug on a cold floor

We like a firm mattress but this is hard and uncomfortable. Harder than the sliding diagram indicates. My husband and I had back, hip and shoulder pain after the first night. Returning it asap.

Disappointed with mattress

After seeing the bed in Costco and feeling how cool the foam was, i was convinced it was a good buy .....but....when foam is covered with fabric, then a protective pad then a sheet the bed was just as hot as my last memory foam bed and after 3 months, it is starting to get indentations in it even though we rotated it several times. I will return it to Costco.

Tried to love it but disappointed after 9 months

Believe the reviews this mattress is firm! We've had it for about 9 months and still can't get comfortable. The sides have depressions while the middle has a hump. We have rotated the bed as instructed but still does not help. My wife and I aren't big people, and we both have back aches from this mattress. We gave it a try, but unfortunately have not had a good nights sleep. We are going to return it and get something softer.

Comfortable

I have purchased 3 spring Air beds in the past, so did not hesitate to order online. Delivery was very efficient and on time even though I live 175 miles from the nearest Costco. This mattress is very comfortable from day one.

Keeps you cool. Had this for 8 months still like

The Latex is great for hot sleepers! This bed does not make me sweat like memory foam or any of pillow tops. I never ever feel hot. It is a firmer plush if that makes sense. It will soften up after about 3-4 weeks. I originally bought the Ultra Firm model but I could not take that slab of concrete and had to return it for this one. It is definitely soft on the sides and firm in the middle. If I were single I'd sleep in the middle to make the bed even. With the firmer middle it is harder to roll over and my wife doesn't try to sneak over to cuddle and steal my heat. I tried 7 other mattress's foam/spring/spring infused latex with foam tops I thought I was going to go crazy, until I found this model. I was desperate for a King size, medium firm, cool bed for $1500ish.

great mattress

great mattress. firm and had good nights sleep from day one. the delivery service was efficient and courteous. they arrived in the time frame that was give and took away all cartons and papers. would recommend this product .

Disappointing quality

The consistency of the foam is uneven, hard in middle too soft on sides. Makes you feel like your tilting towards outer edge when laying on back. Seems also to have broke down to a lumpy feel after six months use. Very difficult to change positions as it leaves you feeling like your trying to roll out of a hole. Made my good back hurt. Can't sleep on this mattress any longer, returning.

great choice

There was an error in shipping by delivering the wrong foundation, so we had to use our old one, which made the mattress seem soft, but still very comfortable. After using the correct foundation there was a distinct improvement in the firmness, this is the best i have slept in along time especially having physical issues.I recommend you use the right foundation. We are very happy with this, also read the rotating instructions.

Soft as a cloud with NO support

Way too soft! You sink right in and it's comfortable at first. But when I wake in the morning I have a terrible lower back ache due to lack of support. I'm a side sleeper and this mattress does not have proper support to keep my spine aligned. This is suppose to be a Latex bed, so I don't know why they add junkie memory foam to the top layer which only makes it hotter and does not breath, completely defeating the advantages of Latex breath-ability and cool sleeping surface.

Firm - Not 'Plush'

When I saw this mattress advertised as plush I figured it would be very soft. That is not the case. This mattress is quite firm. It is probably fine for a back sleeper, but I sleep on my side and it's terrible. After the 3rd night I couldn't take any more and put an old memory foam topper on it. As soon as the replacement mattress arrives this one will be heading back to the warehouse.

Sorry , not happy at all

I was especially interested in getting away from springs and trying the Latex. Unfortuneately, it was a big dissapointment. It seened lifeless, like sleeping on a bag of soft beans. It definitely was not like a cloud. The positive reviews on a similar Spring Aire latex matress are astonishing to me

I love this bed!

I have to say, I was a little hesitant on purchasing this after reading the last review but I must say this was one of the best desicions I have made in a long time. This mattress is sooo cushiony and comfortable. For the first time in a long time, my husband and I have actually been sleeping through the night!

Excellent Bed

We have had this bed for about a month. From the first night, neither my husband or I wake up with sore/stiff backs. We bought our previous bed from Costco and were hesitant thinking we should go to a mattress store. We are so glad we went with this bed. I prefer a softer bed and my husband prefers a firmer bed. While this bed is firmer than I expected, it doesn't effect the sleep we are getting. We also didn't notice a smell. The manufacturer said to let the bed air out but we didn't need to. Hopefully this will continue to be a great bed! We have struggled over the years, trying less expensive options. This is worth every penny.

Good nights, happy days!

We were on the hunt for a good mattress, but did not want memory foam. The options are limited. After doing some research we ordered the Spring Air Firm mattress. It was too hard. I contacted Costco.com they arranged for pickup (free) of the other mattress and provided a refund. We then chose this mattress. It is still firm, but not hard. Its supportive and comfortable. Shipping was included in the price from Costco.com, and we had no issues with setting it up. My husband is also very pleased with it.

Stone

One word: stone. This bed is soooooo hard and not plush at all. I'm a loyal Costco shopper, but this product is a total fail. It will be going back for sure.

Not what you expect

For over 50 years I have slept on Beauty Rest two sided Cal King mattresses. Beauty Rest, like so many other manufacturers, stopped making two sided or flippable mattresses. Spring Air is listed as one of the few still making these mattresses and based on the reviews I decided to order one. The order was for an Extra Firm mattress which was placed in early March, manufactured on March 30th and finally delivered on April 23rd. Looking forward to a great nights sleep we placed a freshly washed cotton mattress cover on the new mattress along with fresh sheets and a blanket. The first thing that we both noticed was that the edge of the bed sagged when sat on and no we are not obesely over weight. I am 230 and my wife is 160 pounds. Our old mattress did not sag like this. The next problem we found that when either of us turned to a different sleeping position the whole mattress seemed to jiggle and disturb the other sleeper. Again our old mattress did not do this. My wife also felt that the tuft cover finish on both sides of the mattress felt lumpy. In the morning we discussed these issues and decided to put the old mattress back on the foundation and order a custom made mattress from a local mattress maker. I will try to sell this mattress and at a great loss. This has been a waste of time and money and was over all a bad experience. Do not buy this mattress until you can actually sit on it and lay down on it. We didn't have that option.

Spring Air

I bought a Spring Air from Sears in 1996 which I am still using without a problem, and it looks brand new underneath the mattress pad. I just think I might get this same brand, if possible, since after this many years I see that it has more than twice outlived the usual lifespan of a mattress.

Comfortable as long as no one is moving.

Feel the movement of others too much. Mattress is comfy.

hip and shoulder pain

advised to get this mattress for side sleepers with hip and shoulder pain. It did not improve my pain as i had hoped. I had to further purchase a mattress topper separately which did help to decrease my discomfort.

***Avoid at all costs!!! Can't last a year before it has 5+ inch divets. Thats on two different mattresses!***

I have had the displeasure of owning two different Spring Air mattresses. The first one was turned into my local furniture store for warranty after only a year and 3 months with 5+ inch divots. I'm not a large person at 6'4" 200lbs. There is no excuse for this poor quality on two separate mattresses. My retail furniture shop stopped carrying them from what I can only assume is liability and the fact they are more hassle than they are worth. So now Spring Air expects me to load up the mattress in a truck and drive 7 hours just so they can repair/replace it. They don't really stand by their warranty.

avoid buying this product

warranty means nothing have a almost 2in.impression and it does not qualify for replacement also do not shop at Metro Matteress they scam you too

WARNING Buy at your own risk

I got one a week ago made by spring air, I slept on it the first night, got so sick in the middle of the night from the fumes. It emits VOC fumes from the foam they make. They wont do anything except offer for me to take it to Springfield Il or place I bought it from and get another one of the chemical hazards. I said I will not and I will check my options, and I am doing just that. I'm trying to be nice but they weren't willing to do anyhting. I had a mess of last week trying to sleep on a couch at 77 years old
