The Applause II Firm by Serta is a firm mattress with pocket coils and gel memory foam. It is best suited for stomach and back sleepers or those that are of heavier builds. It comes with a tight top, which means even distribution of weight. Most folks find it comfortable, but some had issues with the durability.

My previous mattress was a firm Serta Perfect Sleeper (model unknown) and I loved that mattress. I had it for 11 years before I began not getting a good nights sleep. Therefore I wanted to go with Serta again. When my husband and I went shopping for a new one, we opted to go with the firm iComfort Hybrid because in the store it was comfortable and had the best of both world (springs and memory foam). Unfortunately, it is not comfortable and I wake up with a backache everyday as if I never got a new mattress. The foam sinks in and with both of us in the bed it sinks in the middle thus making the outer edge of the mattress higher. I thought I'd give it some time to see if I could adjust to this new style of mattress but no change after sleeping on it for over a month. For someone who likes a firm mattress, this make for an unpleasant sleeping experience that is not restful. I personally wouldn't recommend this mattress to anyone who likes a firm mattress to sleep on. Next time I purchase a mattress it will not have memory foam.
This mattress is very well built and with all the multiple layers and I'm still able to move this mattress around by myself. I can sit on the edge of the mattress and it does not collapse like a standard memory foam mattress. My last mattress was a regular inner spring mattress that was a cushion firm. It was about 20 years old and beyond it's prime. I like how the Applause II has inner springs and still provides support that I need. All memory foam mattresses simply do not have the support. I am happy to have the comfort of memory foam in my new Applause II and still have the strong support that my back needs. Since sleeping on my new Applause II my back and leg pain has eased up greatly and with continued use I expect it to go away. I spent a lot of time looking for a new mattress and after visiting stores and laying on different brands, I settled on the Applause II and am very happy with my purchase.
The best sleep I've had in years began the first night I slept on the new iComfort Hybrid. After weeks of research and testing, I decided on the Applause II firm and Motion Perfect III combination. I could not be more pleased with this purchase. It is absolutely amazing how well I feel in the mornings now and how much easier I get to sleep. Sorry Sheep :( You can see and feel the quality of the mattress and the adjustable frame. Wireless, backlit remote with Bluetooth capability makes adjusting and operating the bed a breeze. Love it. Love it. Love it and the sleep that comes with it.
I only gave the mattress 4 stars as of now because I am still getting used to the firmness of this mattress. My Husband likes a firm mattress so I decided to get this instead of the pillowtop. It's a beautiful mattress, well made, it is very firm however. We had been sleeping on a Serta from 15 years ago and there was a lot of bounce to that one, this with the memory foam has no bounce. It's very nice when sleeping and my husband moves around a lot, it stays still on my side of the bed. Overall I really like this mattress but again just getting used to the firmness, my Husband would give it a full 5 stars!
Prior to getting my new Serta mattress, every day my legs and back hurt me like no other. I have only had my new mattress for a couple weeks and I no longer wake up hurting. I don't even want to get out of the bed in the morning now because I am so comfortable. If i won the lottery I think maybe I would hire someone to bring things to me while I lay in bed all day. Thanks Serta for the best nights sleep I have ever had.
This Mattress gives my wife and myself the support we both need. We now sleep through the night. My previous mattress was very soft. I was experiencing hip pain with my previous mattress. That pain is now gone since purchasing our Serta I-Comfort Hybrid Applause II Firm.

The perfect balance between firmness AND softness, the pillow top keeps me cool, and it feels like I'm not heating up under the covers as much. The support compared to my old (10 year old) firm mattress cannot even be compared; worth the purchase. Demo'd without the adjustable foundation, and SO glad I got the adjustable. Acid re-flux has dropped off, and having the ability to sleep upright has helped with CPAP mask not leaking. Overall, the best purchase I have made for my sleep.
Since purchasing this mattress, just about everything relating to sleep has improved. I think the mattress itself for me is the right combination of firmness and comfort. In addition, its size makes it ideal for an apartment. It was an excellent purchase.

This mattress has a plush soft feel, but with lots of support. It did not take any time at all to adjust to this new mattress. Good sleep every night!
