It is designed to be firmer around the edges for extra support and softer in the middle. Overall, customers have mixed things to say about the pillow. Pillow is a little thin. Im a double pillow sleeper. The oillow feels perfect so i put a smaller pillow under it and really love the feel of it. Yeah its a bit heavey but way worth it.
This pillow is very firm. Tried it for 20 nights and woke up with a headache every day until I’d had enough. Very disappointed
The pillow is too hard for me and doesn't support my neck.
I'm returning my purple pillow,it is harder in the middle,and gives no support. Plus, it is too low to be comfortable. I would not suggest that a customer to not buy this product

The purple pillow lives up to its promise! I was hesitant to buy due to the price and some reviews, but felt confident with the return policy. It is definitely worth the money. It has worked wonders for my sleep comfort and my neck. I would absolutely buy again and recommend it to my friends and family.
When it first arrived I was hesitant because the mattress is unlike any other but after my first night of sleep that all changed. It was so comfortable, my husband and I love going to bed.
I really like how my head is supported and stays put. I like the feel Of the material so much that I’m waiting impatiently to need a new mattress so I can buy it too!! Only trouble is that the material is heavy and I could imagine that a mattress would be difficult to move about. Will absolutely not stop me from buying one but I will certainly need help with that if it needs to be moved LOL
I sleep so well on my purple pillow... purchase one for my daughter and she loves it too! I even use mine when. I do mating down mediations .. my head feels like it’s floating. With holidays approaching I’d love to buy more for my so. And some in law... can you offer a 50% discount for buying more than one to loyal customers ago have already purchased two or more?

When I first received the heavy, thick, but slab-shaped pillow, I really questioned how the people who designed this actually sleep. It is far too shallow to use as a standalone pillow, shallower than the shallowest single pillow. I don't think it can be used by itself. However, when put on top of another pillow, it is really quite comfortable and unlike any pillow I've ever used. I sleep through the night, and am not tempted to flip over to the cool side because it stays pretty cool. I'm not sure it's worth the cost but we'll see if it holds up over the years.
I’m still adjusting it as it’s a bit low for my side-sleeping self, I wake with a stiff neck. My husband loves his though!!
I received the Purple pillow and asked family members to try it before me.... just to get alternate opinions before I'd test it myself. My husband declined the offer. But two others used it for a night. Finally it was my turn. After sleeping on it two nights, I completely kicked the 3 other pillows I'd been using out of bed! (Two of them were memory foams from a major company.) Now my husband finally wants to check out the Purple pillow... but I can't let him borrow it! How would I sleep without it? He'll just have to order his own.

This is the best mattress, I've ever slept on. Period. My mattress, before the purple, was essentially a 10 year old, slab of granite. It was horrible. The quality of sleep I was getting on that thing, forced me to order a new mattress, I heard about purple on a podcast, I purchased, everything has been hunky dory ever since. I wake up pain-free. It's awesome. When you look at the pillows, you think what is going on here, then use them, and they're awesome, too. Sheets - awesome. Couldn't be happier. Thanks, guys!
The pillow was a little weird at first. It’s kind of flat and heavy, but has done my neck some good since I have gotten used to it.
I liked my purple pillow from the first night. An excellent buy. My daughter has one and likes her , too. She was taking hers on a trip where she was flying to her destination. Her husband said she would have to purchase a separate ticket for the pillow! LOL We laughed at that. She just made it a carry on since it had its on little bag/
I am very pleased with this pillow. I had been having neck problems for quite a while, and tried many different options to which none had left me satisfied until now. My neck issues are gone, and I've been sleeping much better and waking up well rested. I would recommend that anyone in search of the right pillow to give purple a chance.
It's a pillow. Fits in standard Pillow covers. It's heavier than you'd imagine when you think of one. Honestly, it's pretty expensive for a pillow. But it's also the best pillow i've purchased, including those less expensive ones from commercials. It's firm and supportive for my gigantic noggin, and it feels weird to squeeze and touch, but for sleeping, it's pretty good.

I went "all-in". I bought the frame, mattress, protector and sheets. Then I bought the pillow. I am very happy with all, and I sleep better than I have in years ! I am 64 years old, I highly recommend all the PURPLE products.
I still think this thing can't be real. As absurd and info-mercial (is that how you spell that?) as this sounds, I've had chronic neck pain since 2001. slept on this friggin magic spell of a pillow the first night I got it, woke up....No neck pain. Seriously... AND my range of motion on the bad side returned. BOOM! O more stiff neck!!! Mind is blown. Hey, I get that this pillow hasn't been for everyone, but for me it changed my life. I don't even care if nobody believes this review. I have this pillow and am probably going to order another one for my girlfriend. 4/5 stars .can't give it 5/5 cuz what s up with that weird powder and even weirder smell? It wasn't fun standing in the tub with a 10 lb pillow (yep, like 10 lbs BEFORE being soaked ... that's a real thing).
Comfortable pillow, and the right size for my build. Very floppy so is interesting to get the pillow case on it, but otherwise no complaints! Would be interested in the mattress in the near future.

The pillow is very unique and requires a little getting used to but I find it very comfortable and helps support and keep my head neck and spine in alignment.

Pick it up, its worth the cash. I don't ever write reviews, because things don't impress me that often to this degree. I was honestly skeptical. You see these pillow manufactures all claiming these outrageous advantages, and exploration into many types will leave you feeling swindled. Not here. This is a nice, heavy, thick cushion system that doesn't over complicate things. It provide support, cool airflow, and really nothing else that your don't want.
I have a king (Purple) mattress and two purple pillows and couldn’t be happier about the improvement in sleep and comfort.
My wife and I, both bought a purple pillow. Neither one of us like it. The pillow gives my wife a head ache. I find the pillow too heavy to move around and position it around me. We have 2 pillows at our disposal for anyone that would like one. Sorry for the negativity, but it is not for us.
It is different from any pillow i have used before but it is so comfortable and i love it.
tried for a week , couldnt take any more went back to old pillow...aaaahhhh purple has the only pillow that weighs 10lbs...check for yourself!
This pillow is super soft. It always cool even when the house if 40 F the pillow keeps you cool until your body warms it up. Where your head rests is quite soft but your the support is a bit lacking in shape and design. BUT by far better then any down, cotton, synthetic, and foam pillows I have tried in the past. For now only time will tell how durable it will be. 6 days and counting.
We've had our purple mattress (new, not original) for a couple weeks now, amd we love it. I sleep through the night, and wake with zero back or hip pain. My wife can get in and out of bed without me noticing, but we can still move around on the mattress like normal. It also stays very cool compared to our last mattress. We couldn't be happier with our choice. All that applies to the pillow as well. It may weigh more than my first car, but it is tremendously comfortable. Highly recommended.
Love using the pillow, but beware, there is a lot, I mean a lot, of white powder inside the sleeve of the pillow. Even after rinsing it off with a shower head, there is the occasional powder spotted.

The purple pillow was not for me, although if was extremely comfortable I could not get use to the height of the pillow it was way too flat for my liking. The pillow also had a smell to it which was hard to get use to. I returned the pillow for a complete refund.

As far as support goes, it lives up to it's billing. The pillow cradles nicely stays cool and is fun to touch and feel, my only complaint is that it is way too thin. Being born with broad shoulders and a side sleeper I cannot get the pillow to hold my head at a comfortable height, and when you put a second pillow below due to size and weight of the purple pillow it makes those late night adjustments awkward. Again my only shortcoming for the Purple is it's not thick enough so to speak.

The Purple pillow is different. Flatter than I am used to but that may be a good thing so my neck is at a more natural angle. I’m still getting used to it. The pillow does seem to encourage a cooler temperature which is always a plus.

It is super heavy, and doesn’t really work for me since I am a stomach sleeper. Gave it to my mom who is a back sleeper, and she really likes it.
with the purchase of my king size purple mattress. I love the mattress, but hate the pillow. I was actually considering calling and asking to return the pillow in hopes of getting sheets instead. I don't like that the pillow is so flat. To me it seems like the only good sleeping position for the pillow is on your back. Unless, you want to watch tv in bed before going to sleep, because you'll find yourself looking straight up at the ceiling. I, however, am a side sleeper. When using it on my side I felt like all of my weight was on my shoulder and my head was laying at a decline which was very uncomfortable. I'm not sure if putting it on top of something would help, but with it as heavy and floppy as it is, I'm sure this would be cumbersome. Finally, when I travel I like to bring my pillow with me. My first thought when getting it to was wow, this is super heavy... I wouldn't want to travel with this. Although, Purple does supply a sweet carrying case, so that's pretty cool.
I love this pillow. I have piles of pillows, firm, soft, in between, that have all been replaced by this one odd looking little one. I fall asleep faster, I don't wake up with neck or shoulder pain, and hurrah! no more trying to wrestle traditional pillows into shape. Well done, Purple!

I have returned the pillow. It is too thin. the suggested fix when I talked to customer service is to put a towel under the pillow. For a side sleeper it caused neck issues.
Excellent mattress! My wife says I sleep on my BACK far more than I used to... I used to hardly EVER sleep on my back for some unknown reason (guess it wasn't comfortable?!). I still go to sleep on my side as I've done for many years & it's a LOT more comfortable (I have very wide shoulders). I HIGHLY recommend a Purple mattress to ANY one!
Had my bed for 2 weeks. Took a couples days to get use to it but it was still better than my last bed and now I sleep like a brick. No more waking up in the middle of the night. Thanks purple

It took me a few weeks to get used to the Purple Pillow. I had always used a soft down pillow, so using one that weighs 10 pounds was quite a learning curve. I was about to give the pillow to my husband or son, but now I've grown to like it. I still have my down pillow on standby, but am using it less and less!
The pillow is amazing, when we got it he liked it, after about 3 days hes in love sleeps like a baby.he doesn't sweat anymore and neck and back pain are completely gone it's awesome
Even when you want a little more height out of the pillow, due to how it it's structured, all you need to do is slide you arm underneath and it perfectly contours and doesn't cut off circulation or even feel heavy with your head on it. Best. Pillow. Ever.
I really like how the pillow feels and remains cool. As a side and stomach sleeper, it does not seem to work well for me with how relatively thin it is. I usually have to have another small pillow under it to keep me level. It is heavy but I was able to get used to it quickly.
The pillow is incredible comfortable. The smell that most people complains about does exists but it does go away after about two nights. The pillow is very low to the bed, and I really prefer it to be much higher, but i manage by sleeping how I usually sleep with my arm under the pillow. I recommend only if you’re ok with either putting something underneath it to make it higher or if you’re ok with it being low. Super soft pillow and I have been sleeping better with no neck pains.
I had a Purple pillow from when they first released and now have a new one from a mattress purchase and I'm amazed it's even better! I've loved my pillow for years, so didn't think it could be improved. It seems much more sturdy and slightly thicker or perhaps a slightly different shape to the purple internal part. Regardless, it's awesome, highly recommend!
I absolutely love your new mattress and adjustable base but the pillow wasn’t for me. The blow up insert has to be replaced and the new one lost air as well.

The pillow is heavy, is not as comfortable as the advertisement promises and it had a synthetic strong smell, also is too flat and low and the blow up extra pillow was not included in the bad.
Pillow is great if you sleep on your back, but as soon as you turn onto your side, it’s much too thin. Needs to be half as thick again, if not double the thickness.
I like the pillow and the construction, but I need a pillow that is about 1 to 2 inches thicker to hold my head at a more level position to my body. I am normally a left side sleeper, but I get a very stiff neck if I just use the Purple pillow alone. Otherwise, it's good.
I found that the purple pillow was a little to firm on my ear because I am a side sleeper mostly. It is not my preferred pillow. It may be great for someone else.
