Bought a Mattress and box spring last December from the New Hartford NY store and had to return due to lumps in bed after only a week of sleeping on it. Received second bed and the same thing happened. Got different bed and the same thing is happening after only a few months. The brand is American Bedding. I was told by the salesperson in the store it is a manufacturers warranty and the store isn't responsible and I shouldn't have gotten the returns I had. But you cannot contact the manufacturer as there is no listing for them and Mattress Express refuses to give me the contact information. Off to another store to buy another mattress. Im out over $1000 dollars. I was told "We sell $6000 dollar beds here, you paid $1000 , you get what you pay for. " by the salesperson. So much for that 10-year warranty I was supposed to get.
Shopping for a new mattress set. Wasn't happy with misleading practices at Chinatown or Metro Mattress so I kept shopping. Mattress Express runs commercials stating they deal direct with factories thus no furniture store mark-up, no overhead, no middle man. Their slogan is "where sleep is cheap". I was in the area and stopped in to their Syracuse store....talk about sticker shock!!! I walked the whole store checking prices and was gone in less than 10 minutes!!! Some of their products cost as much as a good used car. By far the most expensive store I visited. Got a great deal on a good mattress set from Raymour&Flanagan, free removal of old and free delivery and set-up of my new Beautyrest.
Bought a second mattress at the Cornelius location... first one was three years ago at the Mooresville shop. Both Stearn's and Foster, both perfect with no complaints -- so far! Got a Reserve II Set this time.. WHOLLY NAP TIME --- it is the best bed ever! A bit more coin than the first, an Estate.. but worth every penny. Worked with Andrea and Neil this time. They were friendly, helpful, and worked with us to get what WE wanted. Of course a biz and wanting to make money and profit, I totally approve and agree, but made it a good experience for us both. Local business, so money stays local, They buy a lot from factory so beds are made by Stearns and Foster in NC.. a win everywhere for the GREATEST State in the Nation! -- Gotta love that (Hey I was born here.. gotta throw that in..). But to top off all the goodness so far, delivery guys are the best! Some have worked for Matt. Exp. for years, Super fast, careful and professional. Best customer service around! I recommend, I approve and if I needed 10 beds, I would buy them here.. but all set up for now!
they are a great company and did return my previous beds . However, this review is not about the company , it's about the memory foam bed smell . I actually got rid of our $3,000 bed due to the strong chemical Smell of Formaldehyde that would not go away ! There's a process where companies have to make the beds flame retardants and some law was past years ago . Now we sleep in these chemicals that harm our bodies . I wish they told me about this before I bought it .. the smell subsided a little bit I could still smell it along with the memory foam pillows ... I will admit , it was a comfortable bed and I slept great but I just don't feel safe sleeping with a strong nail polish remover smell every night .
My family has been buying from Mattress Express for several years and have had a wonderful experience every time! They are a family run business and have a great, no hassle business model and are very knowledgeable and helpful. I rather support a local business than a big box store. I highly recommend them and can't say enough about the ease of purchasing, quick delivery and professional set up. You won't be disappointed!

BEWARE !!! DO NOT SHOP HERE !!False claims and no warranties. We purchased a $2,000 King size Sterns & Foster mattress from Mattress Express and 8 months later this mattress is sagging on both sides, there is a bubble mound in the center that has formed. I am 130 lbs. not large enough to make an indentation. We followed manufacturer's instructions and rotate this mattress as recommended. The owner of Mattress Express, Neal Jackson is the most uncooperative person and downright nasty to deal with. First - they denied my purchase until I provided proof of payment, even though they supposedly keep their own records. Per my repeated requests, they came out 3 days later and brought a homemade 'tool' to measure the indentation on both sides - while ignoring the huge 'mound' that has formed in the center of this mattress, so large in fact that you can't roll to the middle. The tool was not level while measuring and I get an email stating the permanent sagging on both sides is only 1'' deep and it has to be 1 1/2'' deep to warranty. OK AGAIN this mattress is only 8 months old. I will follow up with the manufacturer and if no relief I will have to go to court.
I am very happy with the Songbird full and plush twin mattress I purchased from Randy at Mattress Express. He answered all my questions and I had a lot of them. I received a great price for both mattresses. They were delivered 2 days later and when I compared my new mattresses to the old ones that the very nice delivery men took out I couldn't believe how much bigger and better the new ones are. I will buy from Mattress express again.
My husband and I had a defect in the mattress we purchased and filed a warranty claim with the Mattress Comapny. Tony from the Watertown Store assisted us with the warranty process and helped us find a different mattess. he was very helpful and patient with us. A good employee to have
