The reason for my...

The reason for my 3 star review was 1, it took a few minutes before anyone came over to say hello, even though I was one out of two customers in the store. And 2, I was looking for an office desk, and they only had to two children's desks on display. What a bummer! I was given a 15% off coupon to shop online for a desk from the associate, but I really wish they had something on display for me to look at, versus taking my chances with an online purchase. Welp! I guess I'll be going elsewhere... On the flipside though, they had a TON of beautiful bedroom and living room furniture on display if you're in the market for it. Take a look!

I bought a sectional...

I bought a sectional here in 2017 and it is already breaking. It actually started breaking down right around the time covid hit so I didn't want someone coming to the house. I paid $250 for a warranty which is a joke and a scam. The complete warranty was not provided at the time of sale and I was led to believe it covered all repairs. Well 4 years later the frame is jabbing me every time I sit and the cushions are all flat. The warranty repair was denied so I basically spent $1600 for a piece of junk. This is a super dishonest company and I'll never spend another dime here again. They lied to get me to spend extra money on a warranty that essentially covers nothing. Shame on you Room Place for selling junk and lying to your customers!

Furniture shopping is so...

Furniture shopping is so hard... My Husband and I spent months looking for exactly what we envisioned for our new apartment. We had a budget that we were trying to stick too and had been to every store in NWI. We made our final selections at one store when we decided to back track to...The Room store, we were approached by the General mgr, 'Chandi' I hope I spelled that right. He showed so much passion and shared more product information then we got in our previous visits that we cancelled our purchase at the other store and made our purchase there instead. He further proved his passion about what he sells by making it a priority to set up a repair for one of our items that was not screwed tight enough. Thanks a million for the best shopping experience. You made it very easy.

Boy do I wish...

Boy do I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing my new living room set. We too were pressured to buy extended warranties...even before we picked out furniture! They could not even give us a price, just kept trying to sell us the warranty. I was so mad that we left. However we really liked the furniture, so we went back and the manager helped us, finally gave us a price and was very nice. He was still relentless on the warranty, apparently where they make their money. No, no, no to the 'stain' warranty but I did agree to buy the structure warranty thank Goodness! Here is what happened next. Furniture is delivered...so exciting. No.... the chair is severely damaged, the arm is actually caved in on one side, the ottoman has a hole in it, and the couch is missing the nape of the fabric in a big patch!!!! Three out of five pieces damaged, are you kidding me!!! So now I am worried to death that the replacements will be bad also. They called me to tell me they will replace the chair (well they better), but that they are ordering a casing for the ottoman? What the hell does that mean? I don't want a new casing, I want a new ottoman. I have brand new furniture that I paid a lot of money for, I want it to be NEW, not repaired!!!!! If I do something to it later on then that is my fault, but this is new. I told the lady on the phone this...to be continued on what happens. I just wish I had read these reviews, I would have went with my gut instinct which was to stay far away.

Luis Gutierrez was kind,...

Luis Gutierrez was kind, knowledgeably and professional in helping my family choose the furniture to best meet our needs. Highly recommend The Room Place on Harlem and ask for Luis!!

I wish I could...

I wish I could rate this store a zero. It really hasn't earned a one. This is the third time our delivery has been delayed. With a voice mail stating that we can cancel if we want. This is unbelievably frustrating. Never shop here. None cares about your business anymore or customer loyalty. Just get them in, grab as much money as you can and get them out.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY...

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON FURNITURE THEY SELL HERE !! I bought a sectional couch and ottoman from here in November 2016 . I was talked into the insurance provided by Guardian . I asked a million questions about the insurance to make sure I understood it correctly because it just sounded too good to be true . Well , guess what ?! It was too good to be true . Not only is the furniture a piece of crap and cant hold up to using it , but the insurance is a complete joke too ! After owning the couch set for a year I had problems with the actual couch sagging . I fought tooth and nail twice for someone to come out and fix it . After the first repairman came out and said to my face he saw what the problem was ( the frame is too large for just four feet ) he requested additional feet be sent out . The company denied the request !!! So next , wouldn't you know it the wood frame actually broke !!! I had to go into the local store and show the manager a video of it to get someone to repair it . Finally a guy came out and simply put it back together with screws . He told me , my husband should reinforce all the other joints too (wtf?) . So now the material is pilling all over , the seat cushions, the back cushions and the arm rests. On the cushion that gets the most use the threads are actually unraveling!!!!!! I called Guardian , and after so many attempts ( busy signal ) on four different days , I finally got through . Went through the process of explaining what's wrong and where, meanwhile the lady on the phone is saying 'oh my ' , ' it shouldn't be doing that ' etc , oh what do you know the claim was denied !!! Her explanation was that there isn't a puncture , If there was it would be covered ?? She then advises me to contact the main roomplace number to see if they can help . To no surprise the woman explained that the couch was out of its year warranty and there's nothing that can be done ! So I'm either stuck with a trashy couch , that soon won't even be usable because the fabric is literally coming off in threads, or I've got to shell out more money ! Shame on you roomplace for not standing behind products you sell ! Update 3 /10/19- Jasmine S. In response to you comment on my review from roomplace: What I need is 1.) Don't sell warranties that don't cover a product falling apart because they are poorly made. 2.) Stand behind products that you sell. 3.) Do something to correct the problem instead of posting a generic response.

Had the worst experience...

Had the worst experience at the room place in Chicago on Elston ave, the salesman was not helpful and did not properly represent me as a consumer. We received defective merchandise and when we wanted to exchange for something else they seemed uninterested in solving the problem, we through the customer service to authorize the exchange. The biggest problem is they have no regard for afro americans, that is such a sad feeling. I am officially giving the room place on Elston ave a bad review. Contact me if you want more details, go some where else for furniture...

2 weeks since I...

2 weeks since I contacted the VP of customer service and still no reply back. Is this really the type of business we want to do business with. One where the people at the top don't even respect us enough to email me back. I am shocked that during the Covid scare this place would treat a family of 1st responders the way they have. Very disappointed

I was in a...

I was in a short-notice need for a queen! A solid wood 9in box spring. You see - that's the thing: Something like dis ain't available same day... I'm telling you, I tried five places and it's true! But my man Stu, gracious dude came through! Took the time to go and look things up. Went 'round back and saw what was up. Held the line both over the phone and hours later. Recognized me as I came for the payer. Got me my box spring I needed so bad. Didn't have the straps and I got hella mad. But it's cool and rad because now I can sleep. With differed payments, without a peep. I just highly recommend this spot. Even our couch, we Love it a lot!

Just bought a TV...

Just bought a TV stand at this location and Aneta Ziamba was terrific. Would definitely recommend working with her. Aneta, thank you for an amazing experience.

Ordered a cocktail table...

Ordered a cocktail table paid for had to wait 6 months, understand, due to the covid,. Went into the store. On July 10th of this year pick the table I wanted out . Well time comes for them to bring me my table: it's NOT THE TABLE I took a picture of and showed the sales person the actual table. Called them they tell me they no longer sale the actual table I choose. It's no longer. So all this time I'm waiting in Something I DID NOT ORDER!!! IM VERY UPSET BECAUSE IT WAS QUITE DIFFERENT!! DON'T SHOP THERE IF You DO MAKE SURE YOUR NUMBERS MATCH YOUR ACTUAL ORDER or you will get crap you had no idea what you will receive!!!! Order this; the first on but sent a Gray & black table what I order was a brown wood tan top?? Go FIGURE

I purchased furniture from...

I purchased furniture from the Room Pl., July the f5th 2020 , The middle part of January 2021 I went to sit on the loveseat and I heard a crack!!! it broke on the backside of the loveseat,I called customer service they asked that I send a picture of the damage I sent a picture they sent someone out to repair it when the guy came to repair it I asked why did I not get a new loveseat he said I could but it's not guarantee that it won't do it again, I agreed and let him repair it ,the repairman from SAW said it was not put together Properly, at this point my furniture including the loveseat is only six months old, The second incident that I had with the loveseat was in June of this year I noticed that the material on the cushions was fraying pulling apart, I called customer service I was told at first that my warranty didn't cover it so I called the Plainfield store where the furniture was purchased , they again told me to take pictures I took pictures and again they sent someone out from a company called SAW, when the repairman came in to see if he could repair the covers he could not , I was told that he would order two new covers and they will probably be in around August 19, since I didn't hear anything the first part of August as to when they would come in I called , when I called I was told they would no longer be in in August if they would come in on September 23rd, no one ever calls to give me the status of any of the problems or the status of my situation, I always have to call and they seem to have to search for when I did call or what the status is of my situation is, today on September 23, 2021 I was deliver it a completely new loveseat which I think is new not really sure, the two delivery guys ask is that what I wanted it so I excepted it, as they brought the loveseat in and turn it over to put the legs on it I noticed there was a page tag over what seems to be sinking in on the covering of the bottom I remove the tag there's a big hole there, after they left I immediately called customer service and asked to speak to a manager not a customer service agent, was put on hold the young lady came back and said a manager will be calling me today it is now 6 o'clock I have not heard from the manager, I ask what is the mangers name that is calling me, The customer service agent told me the managers name is Gail, I feel like I have purchased used furniture , that came with a warranty because they knew something was gonna go wrong with it, I am still paying on furniture that is constantly breaking down no one ever calls me back , I hear this anytime that I call , they tell me someone will get back with me and they will be sure to report this to a manager I have to initiate each and every call anytime they come and repair something , this unacceptable this is ridiculous I will never ever purchase from there again, and as I've seen before the only reason you were giving a 1 rating is because there was not a zero rating there, I will management to terrible, and the The furniture is terribly terribly made, never ever getting anything from the room place again

Don't waste your time,...

Don't waste your time, money or aggravation!! I would give this place a zero if I could. We bought a sectional couch from them about two years ago. Within a couple months the cushions were sagging and the arms were caving in. I called customer service, which gave me the run around. They required that I take pictures of the problem before they would approve a service call. Rude and difficult customer service! I did get a service man to finally come out and take a look and he showed us that they use cardboard, Yes CARDBOARD instead of wood inside of the sofa for support. I tried to return the sectional due to poor quality, and was told by customer service that I could not do that. I asked about exchanging it for something else, and was denied that option as well. Needless to say I've had to have service out numerous times. Every time I try to get service, customer service makes it as difficult as they can. They require you to take photos and send them in first in order for them to approve the service visit. Hands-down the worst customer service and quality I have ever experienced anywhere!! It's just a matter of time before this lousy place goes out of business!

The shipping manager Wayne...

The shipping manager Wayne (who was afraid to give me his last name) was supposed to contact me and never did. I contacted the store many times with no luck. Finally, on a Friday I decided to call corporate and explain the situation. Corporate puts me on hold after teller her the situation. After holding for 15 minutes she comes back on with Wayne. He says to send the pictures to his cell phone and he will get back to me Monday. Monday came around and no call. So I texted his cell with no answer. He called me back Wednesday. He wanted to have a tech come out to basically put a bandage on the damages. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!! Again, The Room Place came to deliver my missing pieces for the second time. So I open the garage door because I refuse to let them into my house because of the previous damage situation. The same guys that caused the damage the first time get out of the truck. Walking into the garage with a box on his shoulder he slams the box corner into my sectional door and dents it. (Pictures attached)

Had a great experience...

Had a great experience with sam at the store but it all ended there. Had the delivery arrive a few days later only to then have to deal with an extreme rude driver. Who was not only bossing his assistant around but was being rude with me. My home has been completely rehabbed and still unoccupied. They damaged all of my walls, railings and part of my base boards going into the second floor of my house. Doesn't stop there. They delivered the wrong mattress and also were missing a handle on one my drawers. Driver left saying hold on I'll be right back. Left and never returned. Left all of my doors completely wide open. I come to find out they also damaged my front screen door. Completely unacceptable. I filed a claim with the customer service department and I'm still waiting for them to return my call as far as getting someone out to repair the damages. As I stated it's a complete rehab and still have not moved into the house. The sales point was great and I've always purchased my furniture at the room place but after this terrible experience I don't think I'll be coming back. . I've shared only a few of the photos taken of the damages

Popped in here on...

Popped in here on a Sunday afternoon and it was the complete opposite of my experience in another RoomPlace. We worked briefly with Hector and, gosh, I totally forgot the saleswoman's name. My bad. Anyways both of them were equally helpful and I felt excited about how my new place would turn out with the right furnishings, rugs, etc. My fiancee and I put in a lot of work and the folks here really helped guide us in the right direction. Irma and Cynthia at the Guest Service desk helped square away all the financing and set delivery dates. They were pretty cheerful and answered all my questions. This time I felt confident going out the door. Insider Tip: Management wants their sales team to be attentive which means some will stick to you like glue and others give you space. It's a delicate dance because who likes to be followed around, and at the same time who wants to shop at a ghost town where help is a 1000 miles away in the stockroom?

I am giving The...

I am giving The RoomPlace two stars for the simple fact that the Sales Representative was lazy. We felt like we were bothering him. I could understand if the store was busy, but we were the only ones in the store. My mom wanted to purchase a chair (my mom hasn't had any new furniture over 20 yrs) and we asked to see if this particular chair was in stock. We regretted asking the question he huffed and dragged his feet over to the computer. He stated the chair would not be in until next year or if it would be pushed out even further or discontinued. I asked if he would sale the display and he said no. Wouldn't even discuss the matter. Needless to say my mom was disgusted by his manner and I will never purchase another item from this store. Thanks

I was told the...

I was told the furniture would come in 2 months and it turned into 3. So I decided to change to items that were in stock. It took 90 minutes to change the ticket order. When the furniture was delivered, the drivers said the furniture would not fit in the elevator and they took it back. I went to the store to complain and they called security on me. They said they would re-deliver but drop furniture off. I put the furniture in the elevator (with ease) they agreed to give half of the delivery fee as a refund. It has been a week and still got nothing. The salespeople are nice but customer service sucks and did I mention, the couch is crooked. WTF! do not buy here, The Room Place is a much better place.

I placed an order...

I placed an order about a month ago with the sales person Hilda Cruz and i am very disappointed with the company because i spent more than 6000$ and they said that because of the amount that i spent i would receive and award because they had a promotion with a third party company , it has been a a whole month and i have contacted the company 3 times to ask and they said they couldnt help me that the 3rd party company would reach out to me but they gave me the contact number to this 3 party company so i could reach out if i would like and when i did they would tell me that they didnt have any of my information due to roomplace not sending them my information , today the third party company reached out me and said that the roomplace made a mistake and they arent the company that they have the promotion with and that someone from the roomplace would contact me to explain the confusion but they never did !! Horrible horrible service from Hilda Cruz & Fahad Maniar!

Very disappointed in estimated...

Very disappointed in estimated delivery times. Enough with the Covid excuses. Our furniture has been delayed multiple times yet they still charge for delivery!

Delivery service is the...

Delivery service is the worst, they arrived an hour after the time frame given. No one called regarding the delay, and customer service was unreachable.

Pushy/annoying sales people and...

Pushy/annoying sales people and poor customer service should be the title of this review. I went furniture shopping this past June 2020 and went to literally all the furniture outlets around the area: The Room Place (across the street), Big Bob's Discount, all the mom and pop furniture stores along Milwaukee Ave in Wicker Park/Bucktown. Unfortunately for me, the couch I liked the most by far was at the Room Place (Lola sectional couch). From the moment I got in the store, I had a salesperson a few steps behind me. Even tho I said I was just browsing and wanted to go at my own pace, they were shadowing me my entire time there. When I showed them a piece I liked from another store, they scoffed and said it was 'ugly', and then continued to keep pulling me aside to show me couches I was uninterested in. When I finally found the couch/sectional I wanted, they were eager for me to make the purchase right there. I said I wanted my girlfriend to take a look at it because we were moving in together and I wanted her thoughts on it before I purchased it. Again, the salesperson scoffed and asked why she wasn't with me at that moment (it was a regular work day, and I happened to be off)- how rude of that salesperson! The next day I end up buying the piece and paid in-full. The delivery took about 4 days to get to us, because apparently their actual warehouse is all the way out in Romeoville, IL (solid 2 hours away from Chicago). The delivery apparently was quick and efficient according to my girlfriend (she works from home and was there at time of delivery). After the second night of use, we realized the sectional wouldn't stay together. Every time someone would get up or off the couch, the chaise would separate entirely from the rest of the couch. Apparently, the locking mechanism consists literally of a plastic socket and metal bearing fitting that fits into the plastic socket. The plastic socket can rotate freely which means if the couch moves at all, the socket moves with it and disconnects from the metal bearing that latches the two pieces together. My engineer friend looked at the lock and said it was either a poor engineering flaw in the locking mechanism or another part of the locking mechanism was unlatched (if existed). I go into the Room Place the next day, and to me, it felt like they had recognized me and since they knew I had already made a purchase they didn't feel the need to deal with me anymore. After about 15 minutes, a salesperson comes over and asked if I needed anything, and when I told her I recently made a purchase and that the couch doesn't want to stay together, she stopped me as I was explaining and said, 'that's a service issue sir. We don't do anything here', and then just gave me a blank stare. When I asked if she had the number for the service center, she said 'it's online'. When I pressed her for the information, having told her I came all the way up here personally, she went over to another salesperson, and grabbed a brochure and finally gave me the number to the service center- the nerve of these people! I called the service center and as of today 07/10/2020, the technician comes over and shruggs and says, 'Oh I see the problem right away! You have hard-wood floors. The couch scooches and disconnects every time someone gets on and off the couch, right? Yeah, I've seen this problem a lot at most places where I see this couch with hardwood floors.' I asked if the lock was broken and if the plastic socket was meant to rotate with the couch as freely as it does? The technician said, 'yeah it's a really bad design by the furniture makers. When it's on carpet the lock doesn't really disjoint at all, unless you get ready to move. What you'll want to do is get some anti-slip material at Walmart. That should help a little with it. Wish I could be more help!'.- That makes two of us!! You're telling me the technician sees this all time, yet doesn't carry this supposedly cheap anti-slip fabric in his freaking bag? I get this is probably five dollars and a trip to Target to go get, but I ask: where is the freaking service?! Service was something that was lacking from the moment I stepped foot in the store and was hounded relentlessly by pushy salespeople, to after buying the product but having a problem another sales person essentially saying, 'Not my problem! Go over there.', to a technician that doesn't have the easy-solution on-hand despite 'seeing this all the time'. **Side note: if this sliding of the couch is something frequently seen, why aren't the salespeople versed in this knowledge and could have asked me if I had hardwood floors or not, and then recommended I get anti-slip product to place under the couch.** A lot of these problems could have been avoided if simply the service was there and it was severely lacking from beginning to end! My recommendation to somebody else looking to buy a couch, is go to the store, see if you like the feel/comfort of it, and then buy it online (Amazon!)

I would never buy...

I would never buy furniture from this place my mom had a very bad experience with the furniture made by ashley furniture she paid $3000 for a sectional and after 4years of having it it started to shed really bad she taken pictures submitted them and still denial her.

Please if you are...

Please if you are looking to get furniture don't go to this place!!! They just care about their business but not about you as a costumer. I bought a living room from them and when it was deliver it was damage and also the quality wasn't great I took pictures and went to the store to make my claim. They told me that they could fix it at my place but I said to them that if this was when it was brand new what it would look like in a few years I told them that I want a different one then they turn rude telling me if you return it you will be charge for pick up and storage.I was very upset so I said just cancel this order and give me my down payment back they refuse to give me my money and just gave me a store credit I told them that I didn't want anything to do with them and it looks like I was force to spend my money with them. After a month I went back to pick up a different one and not loose my money. After I made my selection they told me that it would be deliver until September 2021. Sorry all of this started it' in May 2021. I didn't have another choice so I agree to wait after a few weeks I have a phone call from the Room place to tell me that my order would be ready until January 2022 or I could get the floor sampler. Just imagine I signed for a new living room to be deliver in September and now my deliver would be until 2022. I call their corporate office explain the situation and they told me to go to the store and get my down payment and the order would be cancel I explain that I have already pay 320.00 to my account and they say just go to the store and you would get your money return. but guess what!!! Instead of getting my money back I got a statement for 708.00. Plus 320.00 that I have paid I owe them 1,028.00. Of course I'm going to bring this to the court of law. Please don't go to that place there are many furniture stores HONEST STORES.

Bought a leather couch...

Bought a leather couch and a protection plan. After 8 months with the couch we notice on one of the arms that a patch was put on by the manufacturer. We called and they said you have the coverage when it falls off get the repair place to fix. It fell off, we called the warranty repair Guardian and they would not cover it because we did not know the exact day the patch fell off. SCAM SCAM SCAM. Reached out to The management at Room place twice and they said they would call me back.... Crickets!! This company is a joke and they have no idea what they are doing, and they stand behind nothing. Will never shop there again and will tell all the folks I know

If we could give...

If we could give The Room Place ZERO stars we would. We are on our SECOND couch within 2 years and once again it's FALLING APART. The quality has gone down hill in their products and quality over the years and they no longer stand behind their products or warranty. When I say our couches are falling apart...I mean you sit down and the back is falling out, there is no support left in the arm rest. The cushions on the back are sinking in. I have called and I get no where. DON'T SHOP AT THE ROOM PLACE.

I am very disappointed...

I am very disappointed with the level of deceit and the quality of their furniture.I made a purchase a year and a half ago and I just finished paying for it.I saw that the legs were wobbly.I tried to put them back but it would't because of a defect in the mechanism. The legs are about to snap and are hanging loose in the 3 couches. Also the fabric in the bottom started falling and the material is showing.very tacky!I called the room place thinking it would be a breeze since I paid my insurance and as promised its a 5 year protection no matter what happened to it.I called the protection company they said they will not cover it because it is structural so the Room Place would do it.I called Roomplace they said they do not cover it either. They did not even listen to what the problem is .I kept hearing 'no body will be able to help you'Unfortunately' I am sorry. No I am sorry to have paid 4000$ for this pathetic furniture .They said it is not structural.I want to know if the legs of a sofa are falling apart !What kind of problem is it?Cosmetic?!!!They were just not making any sense. The protection clearly states that it would protect against any fallen joints or any structural issues. They just kept passing the ball and I was left with bad couches that I purchased less than two years ago.It is a total rip off.I took good care of them and I prevented any rip or tear. This issue is because it was a poor manufacturing period.I filed a complaint with BBB and I expect someone to at least take a look at it or a full refund.I was a good customer.I did my part but they did not.I will make sure to spread the word about this business and would not recommend anyone buying or doing business with them.

Well for starters me...

Well for starters me & my man went into the store & of course we was greeted by the store employees. As we told the representative that we came to look around first & if we have questions we would let them know. They continued to follow us around as if we are pets, constantly asking the same questions over & over. We tried to be as nice as possible. But you run customers away by constantly walking around with them & not only they were constantly following us they would interrupt me & my man conversations as we're trying to discuss about which furniture would be nice. If I can give 0 stars I would this is a horrible experience to make people not comfortable in your store. Every conversation we tried to have we kept getting interrupted by the employees. They need to do better & fix their staffing.

I should've contacted The...

I should've contacted The RoomPlace last year but never did. The salesman was pleasant and not pushy. The manager trying to sell me stain protection was persistently annoying but I guess that's her job. The quality of the couch is the issue. It's a couch with a chaise and it's comfortable and great looking but two of the cushions to put your back against are sagging, one is ripped and one that you sit on is ripped and this was after owing it for two months. I bought a circular chair that matches with it and that is in great condition. I bought a matching ottoman that had a thread come loose and that might have been one of the kids fault but one of the feet on the bottom is cracked in the middle and the same with one of the feet on the couch. This set is a mess, excluding the chair. I'm pretty disappointed.

Carlos and Javier had...

Carlos and Javier had my boyfriend and I best interest in mind tonight. They made me feel so comfortable and confident in my purchase! I had a budget walking in and they helped tremendously working with me in budget. I wasn't expecting actually walking out with new furniture but with these two who can say no?! Thank you so much! (:

We ordered furniture back...

We ordered furniture back in August 2020, our salesman said it was in stock at their warehouse .We were promised by our salesman delivery date in October ,when I asked why so late , he said bc of covid. Oct came and went , I called several times to speak with manager, was promised a call back the next day, I was never contacted by them . Worst customer service I've ever dealt with!! Still waiting til this day .Jan 10 2021 We may never get it! We would never have ordered if our salesman wouldn't have lied and told it was in stock! We had no furniture!

A friend of mine...

A friend of mine ordered furniture from the Roomplace in April at the Lincolnwood store. They told him due to the pandemic it could not be delivered until July. As July approached, they changed it to September. He arranged to take a day off work when they told him that it would not be delivered until November. So he is going back to the store to get his money back. Apparently, this company does not have a clue when it comes to telling it's customers when something will be delivered. It is their job to know.

After searching for a...

After searching for a fabric recliner throughout the internet during Covid, we decided to give this place a shot without seeing the item first hand. We bought are sectional recliner and about a month in, started experiencing issues with one of the sections popping and clicking during use of the recliner. We opened a case 1 month after taking possession and there was absolutely no follow up. As a part of the process, they have you take photos and text them to a number then you are supposed to be contacted for next steps. Never happened for us. Problems happen, we understand that but it's how you rectify the issue. It's nearly a year later and we still have issues that have gotten much worse. I followed up on the original case and they opened a new case. I went through the same process of sending photos and expecting a callback. Nada. It's become nearly a daily chore of mine to contact and find out status. This last time, I was told they didn't receive the photos but they never requested we send the new ones of the same problem. This has caused weeks and months of delays trying to get this issue resolved. Finally we received a text for someone to come out but it's 3 weeks later! My experience has been very poor to say the least. The team did a good job at following up on scheduling the order but their issue resolution is almost non-existent. As for the sofa itself, after nearly a years use, we're about to buy something else. It's just not comfortable, too firm, and obviously build quality issues. Take a look at the photos yourself and see what I mean.

Ordered a sectional in...

Ordered a sectional in February with an estimate shipment in April. Patiently waited and when April came they push the shipment back 2 more months!

My wife and I...

My wife and I went in last Saturday looking for a furniture set since we'll be moving in the near future. After having spent most of the day looking, we finally found something we thought would work. After speaking with Judy, who was immensely kind and helpful with us, we still weren't sure. Just was nice enough to help us shuffle some furniture around to see if it went together, she answered our questions and was incredibly patient while we debated without ever pressuring us. I wish more sales people would do the same. We returned last night after seeing a sale kick off and picked up all our furniture. Judy again walked us through everything from beginning to end. We were both impressed with how she worked with us. When we finally left, we were thrilled with our future furniture and can't wait to see and sit on it in our new place!

I have always been...

I have always been a valuable customer at The Room Place . I purchased the Regency King Size bed one of there best and Highest set. When I purchased it I added the warranty . The leather on one side of my bed is peeling I called the Room place store and there customer service department and I was given the run around no one ever came out to look at my headboard so it could be repaired or replaced. I called back a few days later and was told it wasn't anything in the system . I was pissed this has been going on since the summer of 2020. . I didn't expect this to be a stressful experience I'm going to try contacting customer service one more time before I contact my lawyer .

2 stars only because...

2 stars only because of the furniture . We ordered 2 days ago a dinning table , coffee table and a sectional sofa We received a part of sofa unwrapped ,damaged and looks like this part was rejected once ...you will see pictures with this part inside of the truck with two white lines on it , other part from total of 4 was from another ( different ) set , it is a leather one . 2 stools out of 6 from dining set were scratched , coffee table was in bad condition , you will see black pigments on the chrome . Customer service was horrible . Nobody didn't even try to help us , they were like : call us tomorrow we will see when WE are available to send you the rest of the parts , like we aren't the customer but a piece of garbage who throw their money everywhere . Movers damaged many things , pictures below . Delivery charges was around 170 $ , plus damaged walls it will cost me maybe 300-400$ . Jasmine S. Contacted me soon after i wrote this review and apologized for inconvenience. Next day somebody call me and requested information about damages , they offer me a 200$ check for the damages .

The worst experience ever!...

The worst experience ever! Sell one price then up sell. Managers very poor and their people you do not want to do business with!

Delivered in a timely...

Delivered in a timely fashion,... The negative is that after the 2 delivery workers left after assembling the bed, i noticed later that my wedding ring was missing. Had sitting on a tray in the corner of the bedroom. So disgusted with these 2 workers, right before Christmas too. Roomplace had never reached out to me, and the detective on the case isn't getting anywhere with them either. So unfortunate, that they have thieves working for them.

5/29 - This location...

5/29 - This location is located I would say in a strip mall, with plenty of parking! There is two entrances one is for the outlet side and the other is the general room place side. My significant other and I were on the hunt for a bedroom set and of course we looked at multiple stores on Memorial Day weekend to take advantage of any 'sales'. I feel the quality of furniture has just gone down in general after visiting so many furniture stores. We have been to this location before, for the outlet to buy twin XL mattresses for a king bed and we bought a frame previously. 5/29, we were looking for a new separate set, not because of any damages, those items mentioned are still in good condition, but for personal reasons we needed to shop around for a set. Anyways, when we walked in, we were not greeted right away, which we didn't mind at first, but then about 20 minutes of looking around (1st floor only) no one still had greeted us. We did find some items in the outlet section, but nothing that would have matched together. This area does have decent pieces at fair prices so I highly recommend to look. There was one set we liked downstairs, but since no one had still approached us, we decided to go upstairs. As soon as we entered the 2nd floor right off the steps, we were immediately greeted by two people. Unfortunately, I don't remember her name, but she was wonderful asked us what we were shopping around for and connected us with one of the sales managers Nick for assistance as we had questions about mattresses. Nick was very friendly and patient. He let us try beds and explained the differences. He walked us around the floor, let us know what items were available sooner than later since we need furniture soon, he worked with us on the financing and specials. At the store, Nick said delivery would be 6/25, however, after our store visit it was changed to 6/26. Not a huge deal but I did take off work for the delivery window so that was a little annoying. I'm going to be honest I was not sure what to expect with delivery and assembly but I can't give a big enough complement for the movers. I even tipped them because how quick, clean and efficient they were. It was even great that the room please let you track to see what stop number you are so you could see when they are on the way and the movers even gave me a courtesy call when they 30 minutes out. The website for tracking even let you know who your team was. Now in regards to quality, just as I mentioned above, the quality of furniture has just gone down in general. The bed is comfortable and the chest's/night stand look nice, but it all feels cheap and some of the drawers don't close all the way? Not sure if it just takes time for use, but for the price you pay, you pay for what you get.

My husband and I...

My husband and I bought a 2,800 dollar tempurpedic mattress from them. We thought it would have been our dream mattress, It turned out to be our worst nightmare. We had it for a week and I was getting up in the middle of the night to sleep on the couch. It was killing my back. So less then a week of having it, I remembered the '90 day comfort guarantee' we were promised . Called the customer service line and was told they do not give refunds. Uhm...ok fine. So they let us exchange it. So I got a mattress 1,000 dollars cheaper. They would've give me a refund for that either . They gave me a CREDIT. So disappointed with how we were treated. They really showed us how little the care about their customers. That will be our final purchase with them ever ( of course after I use my stupid credit I was tricked into, I really don't want anything they have in that store .)

Just as an update...

Just as an update to my last review if the room place. A representative from the company posted their concerns on here and apologized and asked me to email them with details and my name. Well I emailed them and NEVER heard a word back. Just more proof of a poorly managed company. We will not be returning to The Room Place.

I should have read...

I should have read reviews before buying here. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE coupled with the fact that this place sells garbage! A year after purchasing leather couches, they are ALL falling apart and ripping! I talked to the sales woman (Nadia) and manager (Sadiq) and they did NOTHING. They said sorry, call the warranty dept. I call the warranty dept and they are even more useless and arguing that this trash is not covered. I called the store, left messages and nobody gets back to me. I called again and said I want to buy furniture, I was called back in 5 minutes. Sleazy, cheap, dishonest is the best words to deacribe The RoomPlace. Go to any other furniture store, they stand behind their products. Look at the pictures. Stay away!

Visited the store recently,...

Visited the store recently, and couldn't be more pleased with my experience. Talked to Dustin, and he made my visit so much easier. Help me pick out exactly what I was looking for, super friendly and out going. Would recommended to anyone looking to buy furniture.

If I could have...

If I could have given a zero I would have.Like many other customers, if I'd read the previous reviews I would have never ever spent a dime at this store. I recently moved into my new home and I wanted a really nice living room set. My husband and I paid almost 5,000 for a leather living room set and a end table. Well last night I noticed that the leather was coming apart at the seam. I called to file a claim under the warranty only to be told that the damage was not covered. First, this sectional is not even two years old so it shouldn't be coming apart at the seams. Secondly, the extended warranty should cover this damage being that this sectional is suppose to be genuine leather and not even two years old. I will never ever spend another dime at this store. I will be going to Groen's Furniture from this point forward.

my husband and I...

my husband and I just bought a furniture set from the Room Place and the salesman was annoying first off and I guess it was a by 'as is' but it was a floor display so why would we think there was anything wrong with it??? My husband brings it home to find there are problems with the sofa. Who sells stuff to people knowing there is something wrong with it and NOT tell people?!?! DON'T buy from this place rip off central.

I am not sure...

I am not sure if it's incompetence or negligence but I went in with a very positive attitude which remained until I received my items minus one of the main features which immediately dampened my mood and changed my experience tremendously. I was led to believe I was paying and receiving one thing and in turn was missing the main item which I was told I needed to dig deeper in my pocket for an already $3000.00 purchase. They refused to discount me for their mistake and my inconvenience. On top of that, I had a warranty for the items they claim I didn't pay for and suggested I pay for the main item over the phone, because I refused to make an additional trip to their location to rectify their mistake. When I asked them to refund the $300 warranty for the item I didn't receive, there was this tango they did with me to have this happen. Had they offered me even the slightest discount for the item they made believe I had already paid for, I wouldn't have to write a scathing review. Do better RT 59 Aurora location. I do applaud them giving positions in their store to people who apparently wouldn't be employable anywhere else.

I wish I could...

I wish I could give negative stars. Do not purchase from here if you want furniture you can actually use and not just have as a decoration. We purchased this sectional in February had to wait for a May delivery only to have the delivery guys set it up completely wrong. The had an arm of the sectional in the middle and tried to tell me that's how it's supposed to be set up. We've also only had this sectional for 4 months but it looks like we've had it for 10 years. I called customer service who stated there was nothing they could do because it's not covered under the almost $300 extended warranty we purchased. I will never purchase from them again. We now have a very expensive piece of crap sitting in our family room.

The Room Place has...

The Room Place has always been one of our favorite furniture stores. They are all about the same, but this particular location seems a bit smaller. It feels like they don't have the entire selection you might find at other Room Place Stores. With that said, what they do have is pretty much the same as the other stores. Decent quality furniture at a good price. Prices here always seem to be lower than many of the other big furniture chains. The service here is good as well. We bought a couple of beds and needed to return an item. It was dealt with quickly and to our satisfaction.

The sales people were...

The sales people were very friendly and patient. My on-site experience was fine. I purchased a sofa, love seat, ottoman, and mattress. Some items were delayed in delivery. The ottoman arrived in disrepair. I've been waiting 2 months for the replacement to arrive and have taken 5 days off of work for the arrival, only for it to be postponed. And, nobody ever calls to tell me it will be postponed until right before. I'll probably never see that ottoman and I won't be taking any more days off work. If they deliver it while I'm gone, they can wait two months for me to get home. Don't go here. I've purchased other, similar items at The Room Place...just down the road...for cheaper and with a lot less hassle.

I bought a sectional...

I bought a sectional from this place. It was a great experience! Also it was delivered 3 days later!

Went into the store...

Went into the store on 8/18/15 and bought a leather, power reclining couch for $969.91, paid cash upfront, and was told it would be delivered on 8/28/15. We received a phone call two days later, informing us that the couch was on back order and would be at the store on 9/11/15. We then received a voicemail on 9/8/15 that said it was on 'double back order' and could be picked up at the store on 10/8/15. We told them that we didn't want it at that point because we needed a couch, so we wanted a refund to go somewhere else. They told us they didn't do that, and we'd have to call corporate, which we did. Corporate said that they would mail us a check in 2-3 weeks.

Warning: Martini Dining Room...

Warning: Martini Dining Room set. Chairs defective and their corporate will not help, nor will the store help. Offered me $199 if I spend another $500. That was after getting the Better Business Bureau involved. Chair pads and backs completely peeled and shredded within 5-6 years which were only used occasionally in the dining room, not every day use. Unusable and I will never shop at any The Room Place stores again. I wish I could post pictures. You wouldn't believe how horrible these look.

This place gives you...

This place gives you a estimated delivery date and then the date just keeps being pushed back we ordered back in jan 2021 with a estimated delivery date of March 2021 we did not receive the furniture till May and that was defective now to even get the replacement they said end of May well it's changed to June so it will probably be pushed back even further

I ordered a 5...

I ordered a 5 piece bedroom set in December 2020. Delivery was scheduled for 1/9/2021. That date was pushed back until late January. When the items arrived EVERY piece was damaged. I was told I could get new nightstands (2) and dresser in 3 days, but the bed wasn't available until 4/28, COVID related delays. I did have the dresser and nightstands arrive 3 days later. 1 nightstand was again damaged. Now there was no replacement for this until 4/28. Approximately 1 week before scheduled 4/28 delivery I received a text, items not in stock, no delivery until 5/28. They're still blaming COVID which I'm less and less accepting of each day as an excuse. Now about a week before 5/28 delivery I received yet another text, still not in stock. This time no ETA on delivery. This time I totally don't buy COVID as an excuse anymore. It's been nearly 6 months! I sent an email to customer service explaining all of my problems. I then stated I wanted them to come get the furniture I had and refund my money. Customer service called and offered me a $100 credit for my troubles. I was insulted. A purchase over $1000 and that's what you offer? No. I was then offered a 'reselect.' This process involves going to a store an trying to find a suitable replacement, you pay any difference in price. You are given 10 business days to accomplish this. I went to 2 different stores in an effort to 'reselect' something. There was nothing that would work. I emailed customer service again and told them I tried my best with no success. I again requested a refund. They informed me my items were available next week. I said I was no longer interested in doing business with the Roomplace. I have no confidence in the quality of their products or ability to deliver at the specified time. I am still waiting for a response. I just want my money back, I don't want their furniture. Bottom line, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THE ROOMPLACE!

Philip Barone was my...

Philip Barone was my salesman. I called and asked some questions about a few lift recliners and he answered my questions. Told him I would see him in store. He pushed me around in thier wheel chair and was very patient. I'm in sales too and I hate pushy salespeople. Got the financing and made the purchase. Wheeled me out to my car. Delivery was on time and helpful. Thanks Phil.

Whelp, they basically kept...

Whelp, they basically kept delaying our order. I understand with Covid, but they should've been more honest. When we called to cancel it, magically they said 'we can deliver your order next week!'....hmm? No thank you. Looking back, we should've known better we were not being given honest delivery projections. We then had to pay for $200 pillows that our salesperson 'threw in' for free. Just a very negative experience in the end. I'd rather pay more at a higher end store and be told the truth.

I bought a double...

I bought a double recliner sofa. The one in the store was just what I was looking for. I wanted softer cushions. When I sat on that one my feet touched the floor. The head cushion had some give and laying on it was comfortable. I did not find out about return policy until I was in the process of paying. Today I got the sofa. It looks the same, but it definitely is less comfortable than the one in store. I went back to recheck. This one feels stiffer and my feet dangle off the floor by an inch. The product delivered should match the in store product not just in looks but comfort.

I did have delivery...

I did have delivery from the room place.....couch/ chair set up and bedroom furniture installed. This was in October 2016.. I was so excited to see my floor plan come together...I overlooked the very rude leader (Asian).....I moved a new mattress out the way for them, being a senior citizen, I ask them to put on top of newly assembled bed... I was bluntly told, ' that's not my job' Uh...they moved it when I tipped them...for two three seconds work. Since my service was so blunt...I love the furniture at Room place and Will continue to shop there...if I find an alternative to their delivery. I saw a few more pierces and accessories for my place.

I have never met...

I have never met a more unprofessional place in my life. I honestly do not know how this place is still in business. Last year we ordered 5k worth of furniture from THE ROOM PLACE. Our sectional was delivered wrong FIVE times. (Wrong color 3 times, completely wrong couch once, and not scotchguarded) NOT including the THREE times they failed to show up during the scheduled window time. So for me that was SEVEN days off of work waiting on them. Fast forward to today: the frame on my sectional has separated due to it being made from poor material. Bc it has not been a year we have the insurance they open a claim for 7 days - so they sent a technician out to repair it. He came during the window time TWO WEEKS ago and broke our couch more then told us he could not repair it today due to it being the end of the service time. We had to call the room place several times to get an update as to when they would schedule him to come back to repair it. Well that date was set for today. Got a call at 7am this morning saying our schedule window was 10-1. It's 2:43. No one showed up. We called the room place several times only for them to tell us they could not get ahold of the service tech. ‍ DO NOT BUY FURNITURE FROM HERE. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE X's 100,000,000

Shame on you room...

Shame on you room place in Merrillville Indiana..your customer service is a joke.I should have read your reviews before coming into your place of business. I had to call your corporate office today to find out the furniture I purchased Nov3rd.2019 and paid for in full that your salesman Jim Holman assured me would be ready and delivered to me on Nov.20th then called and text me stating not til the following week for sure Wednesday before Thanksgiving now may not be in til right after the holiday. Your corporate office tells me today....not you Jim...not Devin the floor manager or anyone else at your store its not scheduled til sometime after December.17th ..wtf! I guess the commission sale means more to you and your entire staff.

We had a great...

We had a great experience here start to finish. We had been shopping for a sectional for a while and had seen the same couch in several different stores and had loved it each time, so we figured that this was the one. When we asked for a quote at The RoomPlace we where really disappointed to learn that is was way higher then the other quotes we had been getting. We told our sales person this and with some negotiation we got the price down to what we thought was a much fairer price. We decided to go with The RoomPlace in the end because they offered to get us the couch right away and they were more flexible with there delivery times. We chose a Saturday that worked for us. We where contacted two days before to confirm the date and we were contacted the day before with our 3 hour window. The delivery men showed up within the 3 hour window. They were nice and polite and easily assembled our couch.

I keep getting hassled...

I keep getting hassled everytime I come here it's so annoying as a customer.. 3 people followed me around the store trying to sell me something it's SO OVERWHELMING when I just want to explore for myself and look around... I shouldn't have a sales person following me trying to sale me every piece... I had told the 2nd person was an older black gentleman that I just wanted to look around and didn't want to be sold anything and he said 'ANYWAYS' and continued to finish his sales pitch so I just walked off... after the 3rd person came in and interrupted me and my wife's conversation to try an sell us a piece we were sitting on... I told her that I didn't want to be sold anything because I want to make my own decisions and way my options and she continued to throw a sales pitch as well... as soon as she did that I pulled out my phone to write this review... I was so displeased with being hassled I left without buying anything... I'm going somewhere else... these people are like vultures!

I wish I had...

I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing items here. Now I'm stuck with an expensive bed set I can't return due to the salespersons lack of explanation. If there are specific return policies on certain items that should be told to the customer. It's ridiculous. I will be contacting corporate.

Purchased a sectional in...

Purchased a sectional in August online after seeing it in the Lombard Showroom. Receipt stated that it would be delivered Oct 15th or so. The delivery guys were two young kids that had zero patience. They brought the largest piece of the sectional in first. They had no idea how to get the couch in my house. After only a couple trys they decided it wouldn't fit. They said this happens all the time, they make them too long to fit in someones house. They promptly took it back out to the truck without even trying to get strategize and get it in the house. They said the roomplace would contact me. After 3 days and no one calling to see how the delivery went I called them. Told them the story and said they would cancel my order I should get a check in a week or so. I waited....waited and waited. Weeks went by...no one ever contacted me about the delivery or a refund. Why should they? They had my couch and my money....so... so long sucker! I was so frustrated that no check arrived I went into the store. The sales associate gave me a corporate number. I talked to someone there and we decided to try to deliver it again....but I need to wait till 12/15 another additional two months because they already gave my couch to the next person on the list who also purchased it. I called everyday about the delivery, after a few calls they said they had it in early and could deliver a few days later on 11/6...score! It's coming early. The deliver guys show up, two mature men who knew what they were doing....they also mentioned that this was the original couch and they hadn't given it to the next person....(so they bullshit you and make you wait...) at least these two men got the couch in my house. A little patience and some manuevering got it in my doorway. So for the most part im happy with it...but do not trust them when they tell you something because it's not true. The CSR never cancelled my order to get my money back. The furniture delivered was exactly the same one they tried to deliver the first time. They never bothered to call to see if I was happy with the furniture. Horrible, horrible customer service. I will never buy anything from them again. I will also tell everyone I know what a bad experience I had....good luck staying in business Room Place, from what I can see in these comments....you suck! A former customer.....

The sales reps are...

The sales reps are all over you when you walk in. Once you walk over to pay for the furniture, the fun stops. We purchased the furniture March 14, 2021 and was called May 12, 2021 that the furniture is still not in and will be here sometime in June. Really, it's bad enough to wait 2 months it now turned into 3 months. Then the website said they had another style in stock. We switched the ticket order (not by phone) they made us come to the store. That took 90 minutes. Then today upon delivery, the drivers said it could not fit in the elevator, they took the furniture back. We went back to complain, they called security on us. They re-delivered the furniture only to take it to the basement, we put it on the elevator. They agreed to give half of the delivery fee. WTF! My next trip is to The Room Place. The customer service was so bad. I will never go here again.

I love the room...

I love the room place. A long time ago it used to be called Harlem Furniture, but I'm sure that may have scared some people off so they came up with a more neutral name. We've gotten a lot of Furniture from them over the years. Prices are very reasonable and cheaper than most of the other places around. The styles are pretty good and keep up with the modern theme. Tons of selection. We bought a sectional from them that lasted almost 10 years and still looked good till the end.

This is my second...

This is my second time dealing with this particular room place and both experiences were great. I worked with Phil both times and he is very good at what he does. He is patient, he tries to figure out exactly what you want, and he tries to help in anyway possible. I did have one mishap this past Friday (6/7/19) with my delivery. I received the wrong table and 2 of the chairs I ordered were actually to short for my breakfast bar, so I refused those items but the issue was rectified right away. Phil and his team found my table and I picked out 2 higher chairs and everything turned out great. My order was delivered this past Tuesday and looks great. I will definitely deal with Phil again.

Worst store with furniture!...

Worst store with furniture! I ordered 2 couches on the end of august they told me I'll have them by the end of September.. they called me durning October change the date again for November and couches finally came but .. 2 guys came with delivery they was about to take them inside and they had problem with bring them inside !!!! They didn't even try bring them with different way or different entering !!! Soooo they even didn't told me they are leaving!!! They didn't even resolve this and I had to cancel this order!! I was really disappointed!! I won't never come back there for shopping!!!!

Between here and Art...

Between here and Art Van I really don't have a preference. Both places almost sell the same designs in furniture and both are very easy to work with.

Do not ever set...

Do not ever set foot in this rip-off establishment. Paid cash for a $3,000 leather sofa here. After a few months the arm rest started to collapse and so did the seat. Called customer service and they were not about to do anything about the sofa. I had bought a 5 year warranty and they would not stand by their product. Will never shop here again and tell everyone I know to not go near this place.

The furniture at the...

The furniture at the store is obviously very low quality. When we reach in between the couch cushions to try to find a remote or something you can feel fabric ripping and staples popping out. The fabric on top of the cushions was frayed and looked many years old even though our couch was only 2 months old when we got rid of it. Also, read the satisfaction guarantee and ask for details. The details are that you can get an exchange only within 7 days but you have to forfeit your initial delivery fee, pay a 15% restocking fee, and you have to pay for an additional delivery in order to return your furniture for more low quality disappointing furniture, and more delivery fees. You can only do it once. We received one couch it was disappointing quality, so we went through the whole entire costly procedure to get another couch which was of even lower quality. All said and done we were about $2500 in with a worn out couch that was 2 months old when we got rid of it. We ended up getting a couch from Costco for 1500 that is vastly higher quality than anything from the room place. Buyer beware. Once they have your money they do not care about customer satisfaction. There are many many other furniture stores that will actually Stand by their product and give you a good customer experience. I suggest you shop at any one of them do not shop here.

I just moved to...

I just moved to a new apartment and I was looking for a new dining set. I found my dream table/chairs elsewhere but thought I'd do my due diligence by checking out other places before making a commitment. I was very surprised when I found the same set at The Room Place and for much cheaper!!! The girl who helped me was very friendly but passed me off to her manager when I wanted to get pricing for the table/chairs and a coffee table. I don't mean this as a negative thing, but that the manager might be able to work out a better deal.... This is where the positive portion of my review ends. Once the manager got involved, I felt very pressured to buy. I stated multiple times that I was just looking and would not be purchasing anything during this visit. And just as many times as I said no, they suggested I put down a $50 deposit to 'lock in my price'. When they realized I wasn't going to bite, the manager and associate couldn't have looked more annoyed! In all honesty, had they not tried to pressure me, I would have bought the table from them. Instead, I went back to the original location I saw the table and they price matched!!! There's something to be said for good customer service and 'seed planting'. When you create relationships, you create loyalty. These people don't care about any of that. They just care about taking your money.

I am shocked that...

I am shocked that I'm writing a review for a furniture store, but this one is worth sharing. My husband & I had been furniture shopping all over town and decided to stop into the Roomplace in Aurora while out visiting family. In the past I've been annoyed with pushy sales people or those that stalk you thought the store. Not the case here, folks! Such a relief to be able to shop as a couple and talk about what we were really looking for without a stranger pushing us. Then cut to James... the wonderful man that approached us with Halloween candy. Nice move! Instead of asking us what we were there for and going into a pitch, he offered us trick-o-treating candy since it was Halloween night. What a nice ice breaker! As we started talking and explaining what we were looking for - a comfortable sectional that had neck support & not to deep for my short legs - he was able to make a great recommendation of a set that was the perfect fit for our needs. Even better? It was *less* expensive than the one we were originally looking at! But that's not why I'm writing the review... When James asked where the delivery would take place, we told him we lived downtown. He explained that he was concerned about the freight elevator and if our piece would fit. James googled the standard size to be sure our 102' longest part would be able to work with our high rise freight elevator. That hadn't occurred to me at all, so I reached out to my building manager this morning and learned we're below the industry standard at 96' high. I called to postpone the delivery since we knew this wouldn't work, and Yolanda and the delivery team were great about it. I am still so surprised that James even told us about this. He's a sales guy, after all, and usually they're not too concerned with what happens after the same. WOW! He saved us a lot of time and energy in what could have a been a really frustrating delivery effort.. and the risk of not having any furniture at all since we were planning on selling our other set the day before delivery! Really great service, and proof that there are some really good people that just happen to have the title 'sales associate.' Kudos, James - I'm so glad we had the good fortune of stopping in to your store location!

Bought furniture & table...

Bought furniture & table in June. Waited 3 months for delivery. Upon delivery furniture is two different colors (light blue & dark) & they deliver wrong table. I exchange furniture in September today is December 11t, 2020 I just received call I wont be getting new furniture or table until January 11th. The last time my furniture was delayed the lady said they'd apply a credit to my bill. Today I asked when would I be getting it and was informed they only give store credit. I wont ever be going back to any of their stores again in my life.

A big shout out...

A big shout out to Daniel A and Jessica! My mom just recently got her own apartment so we were on the hunt for new furniture. Daniel was very patient with us and went over several mattress options and explained it to us very well. The ordering went smooth as silk. Jessica was an absolute delight to deal with-she made our check out fast and she was so adorable and friendly! Thank you for making our experience so awesome! I will be back to buy furniture for myself when the time comes! Thank you for everything!

Good luck trying to...

Good luck trying to get your $500 product protection plan back if you don't use it within five years. We tried for months to get ours back. Dozens of phone calls and emails (that includes you, Plainfield IN location) were ignored. We even filed a complaint with BBB. Roomplace posted a worthless promise to look into it. Never happened. We can not in good conscience recommend this company to anyone who expects even the bare minimum of acceptable service - local, corporate, doesn't matter - worthless.

I wish I could...

I wish I could not give any stars at all. Bought a couch 14 months ago. Noticed a seam started to open about a month and a half ago. Idiot sales person told me the warranty I bought only covered stains. Then the manager, waji, said to all warranty company and lie saying that someone's keys accidentally tore the cushion. He would not help bc manufacturer warranty expired 2 weeks prior. They do not reply to email and corporate customer service is made of scripted robotic employees. Waji also claims not to have a supervisor. Will never give this ridiculous company a penny of my money.

The best place to...

The best place to buy furniture from You get the best deals here than any other store around You get the discounts and the zero percent interest No where else does that Ask for Cole per julie He is amazing, honest Kind a hero

Not a good experience...

Not a good experience at all about it I bought a charcoal couch and I was delivered a blue one to later be told that the charcoal couch has a tint of blue not willing to work with me in any way other than charging me fees well I recommend The RoomPlace to anyone else know customer service was horrible they told me that the delivery person took pictures of my items I can only wonder what other pictures you may have taken so I felt that was an invasion of my privacy so not happy and I will never buy from there again

Jasmine was nice and...

Jasmine was nice and fixed issues. I had many issues, I had to escalate them to corporate. . The good thing is they did acknowledge and support me. So they are taken care of.. It's how you handle issue that can set you apart. Hopefully they will train in store managers to act quicker so it doesn't go to corporate. Good job turning it around.

I ordered 3 pieces...

I ordered 3 pieces of furniture June 2016 for about $2000, plys extra to insure each piece. By Nov. 2016, one of the recliners was broke so I called in to have a replacement or repair. I was told the new piece would be in in about 2 weeks. Well here we are over 2 months later and the 'piece' still isn't in from the vendor. No call or email from The Room Place to give an update. So I call today, Feb. 2, 2017, and am told it will be another 8 to 12 weeks before the 'piece' comes in, and then when it does come in, to call The Room Place and then schedule someone to come out and repair. It has already been 8 weeks of waiting, and now I have to wait another 8 to 12 weeks?!?!??! And no one even took the time to tell me ANYTHING!!! I'm so disappointed. When I purchased the insurance, the sales rep said if anything happened it would be taken care of in a matter of 1 to 2 weeks. I honestly don't know if they will ever repair my furniture. Very disappointed!!!

I had the absolute...

I had the absolute WORST customer service experience of my life with their delivery. First I had a confirmed time of 2-5 for delivery and at 1240 I get a call while I'm at work saying we will be there in 20 mins. I argued with the guy for 20 mins cause he was demanding I left work or I wasn't going to get my furniture (that I've been waiting for a month for). He was extremely rude and said I had to reschedule cause he has a job and doesn't have time to wait for our confirmed time at 2. I called roomplace in Plainfield and spoke to them and they said they would deal with it (were not apologetic at all). I get home they aren't there. They show up and ask where I want the furniture and any place I said they had 20 reasons why it wouldn't work. I currently have my dresser sitting in my dinning room cause they said it wouldn't fit up my staircase but somehow I was able to get a king sized mattress up the same staircase? I've never been so rudely talked to and had such bad customer service in my life. I've called people but no one at room place seems to think this is a big deal. Will NEVER use this company again. It's HORRIBLE. Ohh and to add on to this I told the delivery guys I was not home but watched them walk through my flower beds and look in my windows on my ring door bell!

Bought several pieces here...

Bought several pieces here through out the years. Last piece only lasted a year and a half. Furniture is junk. Warranties are a joke. Don't waste your time or money. People working have always been nice to deal with though. Update. Having read my review, Jasmine, a RoomPlace representative, reached out and is remedying the situation. Kudos to The RoomPlace for stepping up on this one! I'm leaving my original statement as a testament to the customer service that the company has shown. It wasn't a very nice review. They could have blown me off but they didn't. Thanks for taking care of a disgruntled customer.

I came in shopping...

I came in shopping for a bedroom set a young man by the name of cole cheek came up to help me very pleasant well mannered and very helpful young man help me find exactly what I was looking for I will be back very soon to the Room Place and I will ask for cole

Was really looking forward...

Was really looking forward to buying a new bed frame and table, unfortunately because we were not dressed like rich people although we were going to pay for everything cash up front, we were treated as hoodlums in the store especially by the manager, who continue to ignore us no matter what we were looking at. Because of this I will be spending my money elsewhere.

Very bad experience ,...

Very bad experience , costumer service terrible !! Sales persons are terrible! I make a large purchase and all my order was mix with diferente items. They complete my order even I still more product to pick up. Sales person Luis sold me one product with the wrong description wrong tag on the time of pickup they give me a totally different product and they realize they make a mistake tagging the wrong item they remove my sold tag y they sold the product to some else. Come talk to George workless !! Ken just don't care to make a customer happy. I pay $ 157 for a product sales Perón sold me. And ow they wanna offer me one for $457 if not well we give you your money back !!! Very bad business to work with !! Strongly not recommend this place !!

Wish I would've read...

Wish I would've read just a couple reviews before going to this store. It's been around forever, and was still decent that I knew off. Purchased a bedroom set, and the initial experience and delivery were fine. While inspecting the furniture, I noticed scratches. Costumer service was great, furniture replacement set up. That date was changed total of 3 times, and when the replacements arrived, they were damaged also!! A whole song and dance to get some kind of compensation for my trouble-after all who wants damaged NEW furniture. This has been a whole headache and the thing I know for sure is I will never darken the doorway of this store again. I did deal with a couple nice employees/managers, so the star is for them. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere.

Bought our new furniture...

Bought our new furniture here 3 years ago when we moved. Had to used the insurance as our kids broke 2 of the 3 piece living room set we bought back then. Went back this week with our gift card and got a new 3 piece living room set. A young man, Carlos, took care of us and showed us around. Once we decided his boss, Phil B., came over and wrapped it all up nice and neat. Good service and excited for our new furniture to be delivered here in a week.

The quality of furniture...

The quality of furniture is the worst I have ever seen. It doesn't even last 2 months and I bought the 'solid wood' bed set. It has to be the cheapest wood available and the finish is literally one coat of paint sprayed over the whole thing. You can see many spots that were missed as if they didn't even look at it before packing it up to be sent out. The protection plan is useless. They have you pay for the plan to cover accidental damage but make it impossible to put a claim in. If you try to call to file a claim they never answer (after waiting on hold for 3 hours). You have to put a claim through online and they deny it for a made up reason. Their website even shows my claim with my reason being 'accident' yet they denied it saying I put 'normal use' and they do not cover damage under normal use. I do not recommend buying anything from this company. My whole house is furnished by Ashley's and have never had to file a claim. The only reason I bought this was because Ashely's didn't have a kids storage bed like this one and I thought it was going to last being 'solid wood.'

Warning!!! Do not buy...

Warning!!! Do not buy anything here. Worst customer service ever. Sales and customer service operate like two different companies and try to deflect between each other giving you the run around.do not get tricked into buying a box spring as it is not necessary for the warranty on a mattress to be valid. Avoid this place like the plague.

We've purchased a sofa...

We've purchased a sofa and a cocktail ottoman from here before the 4th of July holiday. While our salesperson, Vic, was quite helpful, the post-sale support has been HORRIBLE. We were promised delivery of the couch today, 7/5, and the ottoman on 7/12. We were told that the ottoman wouldn't be available until 7/26 -- backorders happen. I get it. However, while we got daily calls from their delivery department about this backorder, I would call back and go through an automated system to be put on hold. I would wait no more than 5 minutes before I hung up because I don't have time for that kind of nonsense. During the sale, we were told that we would get a call the day before the delivery (yes a call on 7/4 for a delivery on 7/5) in the evening to tell us our delivery window. We received no such call. I called the store at about 8:45pm on 7/4. Thankfully, Frank answered the phone (I was surprised anyone was there to answer), and confirmed our delivery for 7/5 from 1:30 - 4:30pm. He said that they had been making those calls the day before, and we should've heard from them. I got a call at 8:26 am this morning (7/5) to confirm my delivery. I called back at 8:30 am, but got the automated system telling me that I needed to call back when they were open. Frankly, that's stupid. You called me, asked me to call you back, but you don't allow me to return your call? I called back after 9 am, and was on hold for 5 - 10 minutes after someone picking up the call to put me back on hold twice (yes, I can tell when the music stops that you've picked up the line, and when the music starts again that you've just put be back on hold). My husband had the same experience, since we gave his number as the alternate. We were both told the delivery window was from 1:30 - 4:30 pm today (three times this was confirmed). I was offered to take a survey after the call, and when I attempted to complain that this was not the first time I had called about this problem, the system ended the survey. My husband took off the afternoon to wait for this delivery. Time is money folks. By 4:30pm, he called the customer service line, and spoke to Stephanie from Lombard. She was rude, unapologetic, and unhelpful. She notified him that the system ACTUALLY said the delivery window was from 2 - 5pm. Regardless, 5pm came and went. My husband was told at 5:25 pm that the drivers are still 20 minutes away. I'm nearly ready to return the ottoman purchase, since I have little expectation that the service from this place is going to improve. The couch just might need to go back as well, because I work too hard to spend thousands of dollars with a company that has no respect for us and doesn't value our patronage. ** UPDATE 7/6/16 ** The delivery arrived at about 6:15 pm last night. My husband was livid. Given the circumstances, I'm sure that the delivery guys were having a rough day, but they were also unapologetic for being nearly 2 hours past the latest time of the 'window' with the delivery, making us wait nearly 6 hours. Their response was, 'It's a delivery WINDOW.' Well, bub, guess what... No matter how anyone slices it, you failed to meet your stated window of time you were committed to. They left pieces of cardboard and wrapping behind and didn't fully complete the setup of the couch (there are velcro strips on the back of the cushions that needed to have fabric protectors removed). I think it's worth mentioning that we PAID for the service of delivery. The Room Place isn't doing us a favor by bringing it to us, and I think that they really ought keep that in mind. Now that the sofa is here, we are happy with the purchase so far, although we've had possession of it for less than 18 hours. We'll see if it stands up as a quality piece that they claim it to be over time. We still haven't decided if we are going to keep the ottoman or night. It was such a nightmare to get the couch, I don't know that I really want to have a repeat experience.

Very disappointed in this...

Very disappointed in this company. I have always bought from them in the past when they were Harlem Furniture for over 20 years. Bought an expensive electric recliner sectional. Long story short they refused to honor their warranty we paid extra for. What was in the showroom is not what we got. The inside supports were missing so when you reclined you had a huge gap and open air from butt to mid back. We proved it with photos and a rep that came out twice. The only option they gave is to add foam and support but that would void any other warranty because we are altering the sectional... Don't buy from them.

massage chair was great,...

massage chair was great, too great, hurt my back and i now have to see a chiropractor i cant lift anything beyond 10 pounds without injuring myself great massage chair

I've been looking for...

I've been looking for a bedroom set for a few months and found one online that I loved. Went to see it in person and my sales person seemed like I was the biggest inconvenience to her. Never even learned her name until I called the location to complain. She asked for my social to run my name for a credit card when I never even asked for that. I had been upfront I were there to pay in full.. Once I chose to not get the entire set so I can get the heck out of there I assumed I was picking up the set from the store. The cashier later told me the location was in Woodridge.. NOT my sales lady! Once I changed it to delivery, she just walked off. Never thanking me nothing. I feel like a complete moron for giving her that sale. I should've cancelled and ordered online like my first thought. Awful service. Then I called the location to file a complaint with the manager, and Frank had no interest. Needless to say that was a pointless call.

I am very dissatisfied...

I am very dissatisfied with the Roomplace and their practices. I bought a mattress that was supposed to have a cooling pad built in. It felt wonderful in the store but it ended there. You have to cover the mattress with a protector to keep the warranty valid. Because you cover the very thing that cools, it defeats the purpose. This mattress is misrepresented. The Roomplace sent someone out to see if my complaint was valid. A month passed and The Roomplace never contacted me with their findings. I had to contact them. To add insult to injury they want to 'make suggestions' on how I can keep cool. I have children older than they are! BEWARE!

I've had so many...

I've had so many positive experiences at this location that I wouldn't even consider going anywhere else. Salespeople are friendly, attentive but not pushy, and knowledgeable about the furniture. They offer many different financing options too so that I've been able to buy the furniture I wanted, when I needed it, without breaking my budget. And the customer service is top-notch. I've recommended this store to everyone I know.

I signed my lease...

I signed my lease for a new apt today, and needed to furnish it. Visited many stores, and I came back to The Room Place as I was in love with the Roxbury sofa. Was approached by the staff, but the manner in which I was greeted by Aneta Z felt highly genuine. After 4.5 or 5hrs in the location, I purchased the sofa which initially caught my eye, a cocktail table, a console table, an area rug, a queen bed, a chest, a nightstand, a dining room table, and 6 chairs. Mariola was also excellent when processing my transaction! To The Room Place Store Management and Corporate, Aneta went above and beyond, and made the experience of furniture shopping extremely wonderful! Recommending her to all my friends!

I rarely ever DON'T...

I rarely ever DON'T do extensive research when buying anything but I must have lost my mind that day and been desperate when I decided to walk into this joke of a store. On 3/5/2017 I purchased a chair, ottoman and a couch. On 3/16 it FINALLY arrived courtesy of some excellent deliver guys....they set it down and both the chair and couch had a hole/scuff/worn fabric in the side. I complained and was told they would replace my couch and chair...ok, mistakes happen, let's fix this. On 3/30 they (another excellent set of delivery guys) brought me a second couch and chair, they brought it in perfectly, didn't touch a wall in my home, were very respectful and did an excellent job but it was scuffed and torn again. We all took pictures, called the store and notified the manager. Manager accused me of damaging it until he realized his own employees had taken pictures and it came that way. He offered me my money back on all pieces or a new couch, I'm an idiot and still wanted the furniture since I based my home remodel on this furniture so I said bring me another. 4/21 they showed up again (another great set of delivery guys) and I said 'don't unload it, let me see first'. As it was unwrapped I saw not one but two scuffs. I said 'leave it on the truck'. Delivery supervisor was called, pics were taken by myself and delivery drivers. Manager at store (worthless human being) Tashimi (yeah like we believe that's really your name...I'd buy that if you were cooking me sushi not selling me a couch) claimed to be a manager, anyway, he said I could get a full refund since I was on my THIRD couch in 5 weeks...I called corporate to confirm...nope, no refund so I stopped by to visit Tsunami. Some guy who thought he was important (he was high watering so I couldn't take him serious) came out and said he was the manager and we would get a full refund. we believed him..., ugh we are such idiots. I still hasn't heard from Toshiba hours later so I called corporate again, they don't offer refunds on non discounted, fully priced, fully paid for, damaged furniture (which isn't what their paperwork says but hey who am I to argue legal lingo, after all, I was stupid enough to walk in here and purchase anything so that tells you I probably have no common sense, can't read and am an overall complete idiot). Corporate refused to help all three times I called telling me I needed to speak to Tanisha....I'm still sitting here on my third damaged couch waiting for Tosha to make things right....I got tired of waiting and filed an AG complaint. Please, please, please don't buy from here. All kidding aside, the manager was named Tashimi, he was an incredibly rude, unhelpful smart alec who did absolutely nothing to make a wrong, right. Take the time to read the reviews from others (not on their page where they can filter them) but on outside sites so you don't end up with damaged furniture that you will never be compensated for. I only hope this place is the next HH Gregg...closing their doors for shady practices.

Bought a sectional here...

Bought a sectional here 2 years ago and it is poorly made and falling apart already! We don't even sit on it very often. Poor quality-buyer beware!!!

I bought a living...

I bought a living room set and it was falling apart before a year was up, we move it once a year for Christmas, the legs were barely applied to the furniture and we can't get it back on, we had to resort to putting a chunk of wood under it and people cannot rush out and purchase a new living room set every year, I should of stuck to Indiana furniture in Valparaiso. Looks are deceiving at The Room Place, it might look pretty but it's built like crap. Over priced and built poorly.

Please do not support...

Please do not support The Roomplace in Plainfield, In the unprofessionalism when dealing with a customer is unbelievable. I purchased a Sectional from them that was less than perfect needed a few repairs. I called and opened a claim and did not hear from anyone until I called a month or 2 later to discover that the person who open the claim for me had resigned. I had to resend pictures and reopen the claim. I never heard from them again when they said' I missed there call and this is the last time that they would reopen the claim. They sent out a repair guy who took pictures and said that someone would get back to me. Well as of today a technician showed up and basically argued that the sectional was made with the threading hanging out and that he would only sew the right facing when both the right and left facing needed to be sewed. He repaired the right side which looks pretty good and failed to sew the left facing. 'He stated that I needed to call to open up another repair ticket.' This is a major inconvenience that I have dealt with this situation since September. I called the Roomplace and spoke to someone and she mentioned that because I missed there call the 2nd time that no one else would come out. Now I'm a bit confused missed call? The tech was here. I was then placed on hold for 17minutes stating that they would talk to a manager when Gabriella came back to the phone she asked for my name and number and they would do research. Although I love the Sectional I will never spend another dime at the Roomplace.

the room place use...

the room place use too sell quality not any more i was moving to florida so i remember the old room place i went to the aurora store bought 4 recliners w/center console only 3 work, bought dining room , bought bedroom set site o unseen that's when they got me looked great on the website now remember i'm moving to florida after i get to warehouse pick up everything except the headboard, footboard, and rails never opened packaging 'giant mistake trusting them' paid moving company 1,300 to take to florida, rails and headboard and footboard supposedly came in weeks later sent my son up there he took the rails the rest to big shipped rails $55, he had to rent a truck $75, took to fedex fraight $400 and you know what i got when i opened the boxes busted up used open box stapled and glue together cheap tin wood busted up wood in a box oh did i mention it was suppose to have a light it don't work this looked like someone return this mess and they gave it to me because they knew i was gone and couldn't return it thats the kind of company they have become so beware you've been warned

My delivery man, Emanuel...

My delivery man, Emanuel did an amazing job putting together my couch and he even helped me decide the best configuration for it in my living room. Great job!

I bought a leather...

I bought a leather powered sofa there Sept 1. 2021. The sofa was defective. 1st that a picture. 2 weeks later schedule a service person2weks later. A replacement schedule to be delivered . now it's been over 4 months and no repair. I asked for a replacement. I was told no . I have to wait on the replacement part. So I have to sit on one end of the sofa due to the other end is defective. I only have 2 seats in the house. That doesn't work well for me and my family. What a way to treat a Veteran. They thanked me for my service

Stain Warranty

Purchased furniture and was told there was a No Use No Lose Warranty . After 5 years if not used you get your money back. Well the fine print is that you don't get money back. You receive a Gift Card in that amount towards the purchase of more furniture... AND that the purchase must be at least $ 999 dollars. AND you have only 6 months to use it or lose it. Called the manager about it and they said they NEVER have given any money back. Rude , I could give a s.... less guy. Never again Roomplace !!!!
