Why Slumber Search?

Hi, I'm Chris Moberg, the nerdy bearded guy on the right.

It all started for my wife and I in 2016 with a spreadsheet and the hopes of finding a better mattress. Let's talk about confusion! I didn't know finding a mattress could be so challenging. Do we need three layers of foam or four? What about coil springs, latex? Should we buy from a mattress store, a department store, or online? But, just tell us, is the mattress any good? Over time, we found that our little spreadsheet grew. Filled with helpful reviews, pros and cons, and a small bit of statistical data analysis from my life as a data nerd in the finance space, things gradually became clearer, and I can happily report that we eventually got a great new mattress and have been sleeping easier ever since.

In early 2017, Slumber Search started with our first little spreadsheet and a simple mission: to use the wealth of public data to really help people find better sleep at night.

Starting with only 20 mattresses and a few data points, we've grown to 500+ mattress, sleep, and furniture guides. The pieces of customer sentiment analyzed has to be in the millions by now, but that doesn't make much of a difference if our intentions aren't aligned with your's.

Most importantly, we've listened to our readers. By adding the ability for readers to leave reviews if they show proof of ownership, our scores and content adapt based on what people say. Also, we've worked to turn these insights into helpful data points. Lastly, we remain an independent website, and not an Internet media chop site.

Us, the people in the photo, own this website. While we do make a commission from some brands listed on the site when you make a purchase through our outbound links, we've never allowed brands to pay us a fee to rank them higher or others lower. At various times, we have had some brands cut our commission and others offer to pay us more. That hasn't affected our scores. We try our best to rate, highlight, and react to changes in customer sentiment as if we were advising members of our own family.

While we know that everyone's needs are specific to them and we won't be useful to everyone even if we try, we do sincerely hope that you find our resource helpful. And if you've had a bad experience, please leave a review on the product that you had a bad experience with so that we can make our resource better. Companies change and we want to make sure that we're up to date with current customer experiences.
